5First Class 3D TV
By Bob Drake
The impressive thing about the Vizio E3D320VX is the way it is packed and the attention to detail. They give you a full sized Phillips screw driver to install the base, and eight stainless bolts when you need only six. The remote batteries are Mitsubishi alkaline, not some cheap "heavy duty" items. Both the panel and the glasses come with Vizio supplied cleaning cloths. The TV is easy to set up, and the remote has a rubberized alphanumeric keyboard on the back side, making data entry easy. The two supplied 3D glasses are of the passive, polarized variety, with the premium one contoured and the basic one flat. (However you might want to liberate a pair of Real D 3D glasses from the movie theater if you wear glasses. Both of these bend in at the temples to hug your face. The Real D 3D glasses accommodate glasses better.)The 3D and 2D pictures are both great as is the TV off-air picture using a Terk HD digital antenna here in the NYC area. The 3D (using a Panasonic 3D player) is bright and truly 3D. (The TV indicates with a dialog box that it has detected a 3D source and asks if you want to switch to 3D.)It has a built-in wireless Wi-Fi receiver (not an expensive extra like my Panasonic plasma) and is easy to connect using the alphanumeric keyboard on the remote.I am still exploring the various extras. But things look good so far!ADDED 5/21/11:A recent Samsung ad tells the difference between the active 3D TVs that they sell (both LCD and plasma) versus passive 3D TVs like this Vizio (and some LG models). Yes, they are correct that there is a minor "venetian blind effect" (light horizontal bars), particularly on white block text, but it is not really visible when you are watching a movie. (In truth, each eye is seeing a 1920x540 image simultaneously on a passive TV whereas each eye sees a 1920x1080 image with active glasses (in succession, one eye at a time, as the L and R lenses switch on and off).) But, with the convenience and cost of passive glasses ("free" at the movies), and the cost of the Vizio TV itself, the Vizio passive "Theater 3D" is very, VERY nice if not absolutely perfect.ADDED 5/30/11:I've watched Avatar 3D, How to Train Your Dragon 3D, and Megamind 3D on the Vizio and enjoyed every minute. This Vizio TV has RCA audio out whereas many panel TVs do not. (They have only optical audio out.) I output the sound to a pair of Audioengine 2 - PC multimedia speakers - 30 Watt (total) - 2-way - satin black and an Audioengine AS8 - Subwoofer - 125 Watt - black in the bedroom without a receiver, so the RCA-out audio is a necessity.Reflecting on the CONS in another review: (1) Yes, the boot-up is slow for a solid-state device, but may have to do with the fluorescent lighting panel behind the screen rather than the LCD screen itself. (2) I do not get any buzzing at all. (3) The compact remote is a plus to me. The small buttons are no problem if you are used to the keyboard on an iphone. The rubberized alpha-numeric keyboard on the back is a plus as are the direct-connect Netflix labeled button (and others) on the front of the remote.Keep in mind this is a $500 3D set.ADDED 8/13/11:[SEE NOTE BELOW] This passive 3D TV does not seem to work in conversion mode with the newer players that convert 2D -> 3D, specifically the Panasonic 310. The 2D and 3D images are perfect, but the 2D->3D conversion results in a flickering image that is 3D but hard on the eyes. The same 310 works well in conversion mode on my 600Hz Panasonic plasma. Perhaps the problem is that the 32" Vizio is 60Hz. In any case there is an apparent incompatibility problem. If I learn how to prevent the flickering I will report back.ADDED 9/24/11:In Comments, C. Anderson explained how to get this set to work in 2D->3D conversion and it works. His procedure: Turn on your Blu ray player and navigate to setup, next go to player settings, then push TV/Device Connection. Go to 3D settings and then go to 3D type, click this and change it to Side by Side. [I got a warning saying that the set is capable of Full HD, which is true, but not in 2D->3D conversion.] Once you have changed it to Side by Side, the problem is fixed. Now insert a non-3D movie you want to watch in 3D, and push the 3D button on the player remote to select 2D->3D. Your TV will sense 3D content and ask you if you want to watch 3D or 2D. You will only have a few seconds to push Yes, so be ready with the Vizio remote or it will revert to 2D.Note that there have been reports that Vizio will not act on defective sets after the 1 year warranty is up. PERIOD. They will not repair sets AT ALL. While in warranty they will replace sets with refurbished units. So buy a Square Trade warranty of your choice of length FROM AMAZON within 90 days of placing your order (not delivery). Square Trade will not sell warranties from their Website for units bought at certain stores like Amazon, Best Buy, and a few others.ADDED 5/26/12:Still going strong. Zero problems. Remote repelled some liquid with no ill effects.ADDED 7/24/12:Still going strong. Zero problems.

5Awesome 3D TV for the Price ..
By Muhammad S. Ali
I had been researching 3D TVs for over a year before I bought this TV. Plasma had my vote as lack of deep black levels were something that were very noticeable for me on my last two televisions. I had been interested in Panasonic GT25 series for a while but the cost of active shutter glasses and up-keep (battery, wear and tear etc.) was prohibitive (this being a 2nd TV in the bedroom). The first I had heard about FPR passive glasses based devices was about a year ago. They were said to be the next best thing but being a geek who has been burned before I was initially skeptical that the 3D effect would be very good. I was certain there will be sacrifices in image quality for 2D however I was actually very surprised by the image quality (both 2D and 3D) on this television. The device simply can not be beat in terms of image quality and features at this low price (Similarly capable LG TVs (albeit with 240 Hz and some extra bells and whistles) cost more than twice as much).I have had an HDTV (this being my 3rd) for the past 5 years and this TV has the best image quality and features and costs the least.PROS:- Even though this is an LCD panel the blacks levels are actually pretty good.- PS3 and XBOX360 on HDMI look fantastic and there are several modes available to tweak color temp and/or brightness hue contrast levels.- 3D effect looks amazing with both games and movies. I have had the TV for only a day so I have not had a chance to watch a full length 3D movie yet. 3D games I tried include wipeout HD which looks amazing. I had tried this game previously on a 3D Sony TV before and this one looks just as good while costing one 3rd.- Lots of options are available for different settings e.g. Zoom has 4 settings (normal, wide, zoom, panoramic)- Internet apps are available for flickr, facebook, NEtflix, VUDU, Amazon video on demand, Blockbuster and lots of news station. Not needing to power up my PS3 (for netflix) or my PC (for amazon video on demand) mean power savings :).- Qwerty keyboard on the remote makes using these internet apps a breeze.- The TV has wifi n and ethernet both which makes it very flexible. It has 3 HDMI ports and 1 component and 1 VGA port.- It has capability to play songs and display pictures a usb disk (has 2-3 usb ports, I tried connecting my western digital passport and it worked great)but no movies. Pictures app has a lot of different transitions that make the slideshow and normal photo viewing great.- The passive glasses are much lighter and more comfortable than active shutter glasses I had tried before. I wear glasses so I have to wear these on top of my existing ones and they have been much easier to handle than other glasses. I believe one can get clip-on type attachments (generic variety not from Vizio) for prescription glasses as well.CONS:- None that I can think of. The TV has surpassed my expectations for its price. To nitpick it is not 240HZ, or LED backlit, does not support PIP or POP. There are less options available compared to TVs that cost more than twice as much.- After a couple of weeks of use I can definitely say that the TV is a little slow to start compared to my older HDTV, granted this one has internet apps (implying an embedded processor with an OS that needs to boot) but it is a noticeable difference. Since, this feature was not something I could test with other floor models, this could just be the norm for internet enabled TVs.UPDATE APRIL 16th 2011:- Confirmed that movie playback from usb disks is not supported as mentioned in the manual.- I had a chance to watch some more 3D content (Tangled 3D, Super stardust HD, mortal Kombat 3D demo, KillZone 3 3D demo) and played around with some internet apps like Vudu and netflix and all looked great. I have not tried the wifi n link as I have it connected via wired ethernet. Vudu has a test festure built-in that tells you what format (SD, 720P, 1080P would be most suitable as they are priced differently. There are not a lot of choices though and the prices are pretty high (4.99 - 6.99 for 720p to 1080p rentals) but they are sometimes better than Sony Playstation Network especially for 3D movies.UPDATE APRIL 25th 2011:- Added more information and my thoughts after a couple of weeks of use.- I also tried IZ3D with every setting but could not get 3D (for PC)to work over HDMI. Maybe it will work over RGB but for my setup HDMI looks and works better so that is not an option I was going to try.- I would also like to add that sound quality is actually decent on this device, depending on the source of the original material sound is clear. I was going to buy a sound bar for this TV (since it is in my bedroom) but i guess i can wait until the next version comes out in July instead of buying last years model.

5Best Deal for the Price
By Andrew Fujii
If you're looking for a 3D internet connected TV, then this is the one to buy. This TV is probably the best overall value out there right now. Picture is incredible and sound is adequate. By "adequate" I mean that the sound is good enough if this is a TV for your room. If this is a TV is for a family or entertainment room, you may want to buy external speakers just to improve the overall quality of sound. The internet connectivity and available apps is really nice. If you are a Netflix or Hulu+ user, this will be extremely convenient. There is plenty of apps for sports updates too.3D is a really nice touch to the TV. I've tried a few things in 3D and can say that you really will get a solid 3D experience from this TV. However you can't be sitting anywhere you want to. The manual comes with a diagram of "optimal 3D viewing". From certain side angles you won't get the 3D viewing. The only major issue I've had with this TV is when using a PS3 to play video games. Ghosting (motion blur) can be an issue as well as awkward pixelations and lag when viewing in 1080p. Vizio support was more than helpful with this. They recommended changing the output settings on my PS3 which ended up fixing the problem for the most part.Overall I highly recommend this TV for anyone who is looking for the most advanced TV tech available, while still being able to afford it.**UPDATE 5/14/11: PS3 Settings to Reduce Ghosting and Eliminate Lag**After playing with a ton of combinations of settings I found the following PS3 settings to work best while gaming in 2D. These settings were based on MLB 11: The Show because that particular game had the worst ghosting issues out of my games. Other games, may not need these settings. The TV settings listed below are absolutely necessary to have. It will eliminate any lag that you might experience.PS3 Settings:--Go to 'Video Settings' and set '1080p 24HzOutput (HDMI)' to OFF.--Go to 'Display Settings' and change 'Video Output Settings' to 720p. To change this setting you have to choose 'Manual' when it prompts you to choose.--The only other setting (which I'm not positive I actually changed or if this setting was default) was in 'Game Settings'. I have 'PS Smoothing' set to OFF.TV Settings:--TV Settings: Hit 'Menu' on your TV Remote and go to 'Settings'. Make sure the 'Input Source' is set to whatever input your PS3 is using. Go to 'Game Mode' and choose 'ON'. This eliminates all lag while gaming which was a huge problem initially.

5Excellent LCD
By David McLeod
Summary:I am extremely pleased with this LCD. The picture is bright and clear and the colors are excellent. I am completely satisfied with the purchase and recommend this device to anyone.Expanded Review:First, I defined my goals: From about 8 feet away I want to watch High Definition DVD's at 1080p, watch High Definition television including local channels, connect some gaming consoles, connect a PC, and connect my surround sound receiver.I looked at different products for a year. I would compare the appearance between the different sets in the store, read online reviews, talked to friends, and read product specifications.I decided on the following and intended to act before the end of summer: I would obtain a decent 42" LCD with all of the necessary connectors for under $1600, I would purchase a PS3 for Blu-ray as well as HD gaming with the bonus that it will upconvert my current DVD's, and upgrade my current cable service to HD for HD television viewing. I figured to spend about $2000-$2200.When the PS3 price dropped to $500 it figured it was time to move. The contenders after my research included the Samsung, Sony, LG, and the Westinghouse LVM-42W2. Most were over the limit to what I was comfortable spending so it came down to the LVM-42w2. When I went to find it I discovered the TX-42F430S that had been recently introduced. Additionally it was available at a local yellow tagged electronics superstore for the best price advertised. I was able to view this unit side by side with the other available LCD's and it looked just as good, to me, as much more expensive models. I realized however that the signal being pumped into those devices on the wall was not a 1080p signal and that the picture at home might look different. At that point I figured it was bright, the colors were coming through, the menu system was functional, and it was the lowest priced 42" 1080p LCD available ($1299). I bought it with a matching of the online deal that threw in a Sony HT-DDW790 home theater system and a 60 day in house price match. The following Sunday 7/29 it went on sale for $1099. I got the price match ($200 back) and sold the HT system for $120. So, total for this system with PS3 was right about $1500 plus cables, controllers, Blu-ray Planet Earth, and a couple of games for the PS3. I feel good.Results:1. I have the PS3 connected to one of the four(!) HDMI connectors and it looks awesome. Motorstorm at 720p is excellent and Planet Earth at 1080p is unbelievable. I had to get the blue tooth remote for playing movies, you can do it with the controller but it's a pain. Most of the upconverted DVD's look incredible, much better than on standard def TV, this was much better than I expected and for someone not hypersensitive it would be hard to differentiate it from some native HD or Blu-ray DVD's.2. HD Digital Cable content through the component connection looks very good. Standard Definition looks like garbage, but this is expected of all HD LCD's, the pixels on the LCD display the picture in all it's ugly glory. In all my research, I have not come across a way to watch standard def TV and it not look bad. It's functional, and viewable if you don't expand the screen and let it display in 4:3, but a step down when viewing most of the normal TV content. One can only hope that more and more channels come to HD format.3. I have my PC, Wii, and PS2 (only for guitar hero) hooked up though the home theater receiver via S-video at the moment and it serves. I want to move the PC to the VGA connector (I need a new dual head video card), the Wii to the component connection, and the PS2 directly to the S-video in the future.4. I have a digital optical cable running from the output on the LCD to the HT receiver and it sounds good. The interal LCD speakers can be turned off so that only the HT system is used. So, I am very happy. I hope this helps some of you still looking. I relied heavily on comments about the products here and I wanted to return the favor.

4Not Perfect But An Excellent Budget Set
By JazzMann
The picture on this set is quite outstanding, sharp, snappy and capable of incredible detail. The on-screen menu is excellent as well. Connectivity is excellent. it has four HDMI connections!!!, 2 component video connections (YPbPr), a VGA connection, audio SPIDF out, S-Video, numerous analog audio ins/outs etc. The sound system is quite good with a built-in subwoofer. The set has (had) a few flaws:1. You will see some pixel-ating in very dark areas. The picture snaps back when the scene brightens up again. This improves somewhat as the set 'breaks-in'. After about 20 hours of use and adjusting the settings, now, it's a very minor issue for me. ALL LCDs are prone to this to some degree or another.2. I first heard soft popping noises when listening to DVDs (only) with an HDMI connection. The noise would come and go intermittently. This issue went away completely after about 20 hours of use. (I can't explain it). Also, this can be worked around if you use a Home Theater Receiver. You will find that ALL LCDs are going to have some bugs. The TX-42F430S gives you a superb picture at a low price. I recommend it.

4Great price for a great product
By D. Berube
We were looking for a lot of function for a little price. This true 1080p TV has multiple inputs for audiophiles and has a true 1080p pc connection. The set will automatically read the source and adjust itself appropriately... no having to "switch" from DVD, PC or cable... the TV does it for you!!!Since we've only had it a month, the verdict is still out on the longevity factor, but the initial WOW factor of the picture quality and functionality has set this TV as a great alternative to the high priced famous brands. We paid about 1/2 the cost of the same 42" TV in the high end brands and feel we received a top notch product. We had the opportunity to see this TV in use against all the other brands (at the yellow price tag store) we were looking at and we absolutely loved the picture, the features and the look of the TV. Westinghouse went with a matt black finish which is different from everyone else, it looks stylish hanging on the wall and is very easy to keep clean. We are so impressed that we are considering the 47" to replace our perfectly good 32" livingroom TV.Again, other than the question of how long will it last (which is why we are giving this only 4 stars and not 5 - I bought a coverage plan to protect myself and the price was still way below that of the high end famous brand name tvs) if it lasts 5 years it was worth it!!!

5An Excellent Value with Above Average picture
By S. J. Romero
First the bad: It's very heavy. My unit weighs about 160lbs and is very difficult to move around on the stand. That said, the delivery guys took care of moving it. Now that its set up, weight is of no consiquence. The Amazing: The up conversion of Standard Definition TV. I researched the Hollywood Quality Video Chipset and read extensively on its websites about how the Television will integrate the upconversion to near-HD on Standard Definition TV. Now that its on my TV stand, its simply amazing to watch both HD and Standard Def TVThe Fabulous: The Quality of HD is flawless. The black definition is enough for me. The Menu is very easy to use, so easy I've never had to consult the manual. The crisp sharpness of the 1080i HD Channels is brilliant and in my eyes compared with my LG television, it's gotta be 1080p I'm watching as it really looks like an open window.I was Sold When: I found out the price. For high quality HQV Chipset + Size + Warranty the Price was a bargain and I couldn't be happier.I'd recommend this TV or any Olevia TV to friends and families. The Delivery guy who helped me to install commented his impression with the unit and wrote down the brand and website i got it from when I told him the price because he said he was going to order one... that's how good this TV is, one look and your sold.I bought it sight unseen online based on the Consumer Reports and couldn't be happier.Lastly, Olevia is an American Owned American Made company and that was just icing on the cake at the end of the day.

5Brilliant color.
By C. LARSON
Once the television arrived, it was an easy set up. HDMI connections x 2 let us attach the cable box and the Blu-ray player directly. Then we turned it on and we were dazzled by the great color and fantastic detail. Only down side is that Olevia uses codes for its remote that are too new to be in many "universal remotes" so we end up with two controllers - one for the TV and one for everything else. This is our second Olevia LCD TV.

5Olevia 747 is Superb
By Frank A. Maida
Having owned this TV for around a month its one of the best TVs I have ever owned. All my previous TVs were Sony's and yes its right there with them or above them. I paid $1300 delivered to the door what a bargain! Out of the box its pretty close to perfect. The only adjustments I did was to lower the brightness and set the advanced black level enhancer to on, the lighting was set to dark room, this TV has plenty of brightness turning it down a little will extend the life of the LCD and also improve the picture giving better black levels. Some pro reviews have stated that the black level performance was average, lowering the brightness will improve that. There is still a lot of standard definition out there and this set performs much better than I expected and better than any other LCD Ive seen, probably due to the excellent Silicon Optix HQV processor it up-scales the tuner to what looks like standard DVD. DVDs look close to 720p HD and that's without an up converting DVD player. If you are watching SD TV you can be hard pressed to think its HD that is until you go to a HD station.HD is simply stunning its like looking out a window very few Hdtvs can achieve this, color quality is excellent. Color temp is user adjustable at 6500 or 9200 but it's not necessary to adjust 6500 is fine in my opinion. It has PIP which I use often for sports, and a nice function called channel surfing it will display several channels at once so you can choose the one you want. it also has Split screen. The Menu is good once you master it, it could drive some people crazy at first though because of the rotating menu. The remote has several small buttons which when viewing in the dark are hard to find despite the fact that it back lit, you have to memorize the ones you need to use like favs sleep view etc, that's about the only thing I can complain about oh it is heavy at 130lbs but once you get it into place that not an issue other thing in researching this TV I heard what I thought was a ridiculous complaint about an egg shaped image when the TV was switching input or in very dark scenes, I saw it too but it disappeared after a week or so, Maybe it had to break in whatever its gone, Sound quality is very good with 25 watts per channel and nice sounding speakers, it has a lot of sound enhancements such as wide sound deep bass and idfa which is preset eq settings for Movie live speech etc.The fact that Olevia is a new company I give them a lot of credit getting to top of the heap so quick. I own a 32" and 27" Olevia I had a problem with the 32 but Circuit City replaced it and the new one it working great. I would recommend that you buy warranty protection for it being we know little about its reliability. I purchased one on the net for $150 for 5 years at Teds unlimited there are other company's that you can go with as well. So for $1450 I have a great TV with a 5 year warranty.I almost felt guilty for not buying a Sony but their 40" Bravia was several hundred dollars more. So Instead I have Sony quality with a Olevia price. I recommend this TV highly walk run or surf and get one before the price go's up. FM

5Great Bedroom Big Screen
By pauyx2
I bought this for the bedroom because I can totally black it out. So far this has been an excellent choice. I decided to go with dumb Plasma 720 over a Smart 1080 LED. Saved a bundle and paired it with a nice Blu-Ray player with tons of apps. Picture quality is great and sound was a pleasant surprise. You have to change the sound settings out of the box, and then you are ready to roll. I ordered a surround sound to go with this but am contemplating sending that back.Salesman will always tell you to go with 1080 LED, LCD or even 3D for Blu-Ray. A couple of comments on that. LCD and LED LCD do not have the glare issues that Plasma has and that is no different here. After that, Plasma has far truer color accuracy and much better blacks. The refresh rate is far superior on Plasmas. Also, when comparing a 720 to a 1080, most people cannot distinguish between the two after 10-12 feet. With a 51" you need to be at that distance to enjoy it. If you want 3D consider this. Content is extremely limited to mostly kids movies and bad adult ones. Blockbuster, Redbox and Netflix offer NO 3D Blu-Ray rentals as of today. VUDU is the only online vendor that streams 3D and that will break your bank.I'm not being critical of LCD's here. I own a wonderful LG 3D smart TV and I love it. If your looking for a good TV without emptying out your wallet consider a 720 plasma. No bells and whistles, but do you really need Netflix or Youtube on 10 devices in your house?Overall does what a TV should do very well and very large. Easy to setup, great picture and sound. Only con to this product is very limited connectivity. Only has two HDMI on the rear and 1 optical digital audio output. You will not be able to use HDMI pass through on this television. No ARC on the HDMI.Just make sure you have a dark area and you will enjoy. 5 stars for just being a good tv.

4A Good All Around Plasma with some Minor to Significant Flaws
By S. Morales
This Samsung 43" plasma features some good basic features while performing very adequately in terms of picture and sound quality. All around it is a top choice for the person who wants a very affordable plasma television with the essential features, but may not do so well for the person who desires a much deeper level of choice in terms of connection options and has a bit more money to spend. The positives for this plasma tv are that well, it's a plasma. These days LCD and LED flat panels have mostly overtaken the tv market, promising a brighter and smoother picture through their diode lighting and all the benefits of your quality plasma television. Though most of their claims are true, the simple fact is that the hardware of a plasma tv will always trump that of either an LCD or an LED. The blacks are MUCH truer and deeper on plasmas than anywhere else, and even in a decently well-lit room, a plasma can still perform well, so forget lots of that jargon saying that if you have a room with ANY sort of light coming in that a plasma will look absolutely horrid. Simply not true and very overaly exaggerated. Yes, while an LED and LCD would look somewhat brighter, this plasma in particular does have a significantly bright screen that would do well in a room with 1 or 2 windows letting light inside. Another reason the plasma hardware works better is that unlike many LED's, the picture frame rate is the truest standard for movies. Many LED implement a frame rate smoothing that even if turned off, still leaves a little bit of an ungenuine "soap opera" look to your favorite movies and tv shows. It's just the way the hardware is, no way around it; meanwhile, LCD's being the most affordable, have perhaps the worst of all black levels, and colors that can tend to appear too stale. Hence if you had to pick from the three, plasma is really the way to go. Anyway, this Samsung performs well in terms of picture, although not PERFECT.Next, the sound quality I appreciated most. This tv has a significant boost in fullness of volume over previous models. You'll notice that the tv is fairly audible even at the volume set to 1, and watching comfortably you can put it up to 7 to 10. Previous Samsung tv's had some terrible volume levels, whereas some smaller older models having to be turned up to about 60 when watching a Blu-ray movie, and even worse for DVDs! So thankfully Samsung has greatly remedied these issues with their current tv's, and this television does an exceptional job for a thin flat panel in terms of sound. Things don't sound tinny at all, and having this tv in a bedroom I would see no reason for any type of soundbars if you just want to get some good basic sound out of the unit. The tv also has 2 HDMI inputs, 1 component input, and a USB connection. The tv is also very light, and one adult can fairly easily lift the unit from one place to another without a problem. This tv is also pretty energy efficient, so you'll save some good money on your energy bill as this one has an estimated $17/year price on consumption; good for plasmas, as they have a tendency to suck the most juice between them and LCD and LED's.The flaws are there, and noticeable, but minor depending on how much you expect to do with this television. Now in terms of picture and sound quality, I see NO reason to gripe for either; considering those are the most important aspects of a television, the quality will seal the deal for many buyers just with that.I used to own a 2010 model 450 series plasma, which although significantly heavier had MUCH better connection options. It also had a swivel stand which this tv doesn't. While that may not sound like a big deal, the swivel stand was a huge convenience. The reasoning for removing it was obviously to lessen the weight as well as production costs.Onto the connection options... like I said, my older 2010 model was a better tv overall. Not only did it have a slightly sharper picture, but I could also do more with it (granted, I do prefer the sound quality of this newer model). The older tv had a cable box, PS3, PS2, and Gamecube hooked up. the PS2 and Gamecube both used component cables, and considering my older model had 2 component connections, they were both hooked up no problem. the PS3 and cable box used 2 of the 3 HDMI's that were available. The older unit also had 2 composite connections, whereas this new unit has NONE. So what you really have here is a measly 2 HDMI connections, one component connection and an option for USB. I had to purchase a separate component switcher in order for all of my units to function on the tv... but would have greatly preferred to have it all to the tv directly as to not compromise any sort of sound or video quality whatsoever. In this case, I'll have to.Other may also not like the lighter and "cheaper" feel of the tv. You can tell lots was cut from this unit due to production costs, and although the older unit was heavier, it felt sturdier and like it would last years beyond however long this unit lasts. TV's are definitely not made how they used to be, but hopefully this unit stands the test of time because I still don't know the overall quality of the hardware and its lasting power just yet. I'll edit this review if anything goes wrong.*EDIT*The very same night that I wrote this review (and only about 3 days of owning the tv) I noticed in the upper right corner area there are 2 dead and still pixels, one black and the other green. Dead pixels are nothing new to tvs, and I really don't notice this one at all if I'm watching from a reasonable distance (like 6 to 9 feet away), but up close at about 4 feet away I do notice it if there is a white or light colored image on the screen. May not seem like a big deal but a dead pixel is a dead pixel. I'm going over to Best Buy tomorrow and purchasing their 4-year Geeksquad extended plan, because I've had the Geeksquad over my house for another tv and they do good work. If in a couple of years the tv goes bad overall, they even replace it with another similar unit. Or I can pay to upgrade. I'd rather do this than call Samsung because then they'll just send over a third-party company who will probably do a hack job. I trust the Geeksquad.Someone also commented below about overheating or heat release. There is no significant heal release from this unit whatsoever. Heat release is something of the past with flat-panels. I used to own a 42" Panasonic plasma (actually, I still have it and it works great, just in another room of the house), and it was pretty bulky considering I got it about 5 to 6 years ago. It has very significant heat release and is downright uncomfortable to watch in an enclosed room in the summer time, and I even used to use it as a little heater during the winter! It is also important to note that there is NO internet or wi-fi capabilities on this unit at all. This is just your standard tv for a good price that performs well.So why did I get rid of my older plasma even though I preferred it a bit more? It had a burn-in issue from watching too many standard definition tv shows. This newer plasma perhaps won't burn-in so easily considering the updated hardware, but at least I know to take care of it.All picture, sound and burn-in protection options on the tv itself are the same as Samsung's older models (same standard, movie, voice, amplify options for sound and standard, movie and dynamic options for picture, as well as the options to customize these). For the casual buyer on a budget this really is a no-brainer, also those who intend on using this tv for a bedroom or single room, and they'll be perfectly happy. For the most hardcore enthusiest and/or gamer type, I would strongly suggestion finding another model with more picture and connection options. Although these days it's hard to find a tv with the amount of connection options of the past.

5Great quality picture, easy set up, Plasma's back!
By A
I spent a lot of time comparing LCD, LED and Plasma and decided on the Plasma. They've done a good job overcoming some of their previous problems. I'm so glad I made this choice. This is the "E", 2012 version of the "D" from 2011, which has gotten very good reviews. The picture is crisp, colors are vibrant, black is so BLACK! The on-screen set up is easy, the menu system is simple and just about anyone can figure it out without much help from the directions. The commands are logical and the options for sound and picture dynamics work well for HD, digital or standard cable incoming signals, which is great since we get all three in our area. Don't be dissuaded by the 720p; it give great picture quality. We had a 1080p and at this size (51") we see no difference, it's a non-issue. Several people have said that in on-line reviews and they are right, I'm glad we listened to them. The only minor issue is the shiny screen; if a lamp is on in the room you may see it reflected in the screen. But we watch TV with the lights off so it's not a problem at all.The weight is less than 50 lb. making it easy to set up. It comes with a plastic stand that seems flimsy as you put it together but it's not, and it's perfectly capable of holding the television securely and looks great once assembled with a Phillips head screwdriver and the 8 screws that come with it.

5Beautiful Picture!
By prospurr4
I received this 55" Toshiba TV today from Amazon. I did a lot of comparisons, with the most-popular brands (in person and online) before deciding on this purchase. I have an old CRT Toshiba TV that's still going strong, so I thought I would research their LCDs as well. The picture is stunning, and Blu-ray movies are amazingly crisp and fluid. The sound is average, but that's not a deal-breaker for me because I hooked it up to my BOSE home theater system. I got a great price, free shipping with white-glove delivery, and saved a couple hundred dollars over the "popular" brand I was planning to buy. I highly recommend it.

5So love my new TV
By Nancy
My husband was not sure he wanted a new TV and now I can not get him away from the TV. The color is amazing and the contrast so sharp and clear, it is a pleasure to watch, I already owned a 32 inch Toshiba that I also purchased from amazon so I trusted the product, but was concerned about the sound because the smaller set has adequate but not great sound, but this larger set is much louder and it is not a real issue as we will be using the surround sound any way. For the price this has to be the best deal out there right now and I could not be happier. I have an issue with the shipping company but it has nothing to do with amazon or the quality of the TV so I am a happy custo

5Toshiba 55" LED TV
By A. Dalton
Excellent product, great picture, easy-to-use, versatile. The only 2 minor complaints I have are: (1) The speakers are a little inadequate for a large room or a room with noise in it. (2) The remote control will control multiple devices, but to do so, you must slide a little switch back and forth to select the device to control - cumbersome - (whereas many other remotes just have a line of quick push-buttons for selecting the device you want). But, really, it is simple to operate and adjust, etc. and provides a great picture. The shipping was fast, but the box clearly is labeled for two people to handle the box as it is quite large. But, one guy showed-up with it and had torn the sides of the box open. Fortunately, it didn't seem to hurt the TV.

4A good but not great set
By jivetrain
LG's lower-mid level sets have earned a reputation for having low gaming lag, great color accuracy, and the most extensive features and picture options of any sets at or even above their price level. The CS560 series still delivers in these regards, but to a lesser extent than earlier models. The styling and build quality of the set are fairly good overall. My panel is a S-IPS type, though LG may be conducting a panel lottery (randomly shipping VA and IPS panels for the same model) as they have in the past. The buttons are front mounted and touch sensitive, which seems like a nice feature at first but makes operating the set awkward and even frustrating in a dark room; don't lose the remote. Another complaint to make about the set is that it buzzes audibly unless the backlight is fully set to 100, which can be annoying when using the set quietly at night. The input lag for video gaming keeps with LG's standard for fast processing time. In the lag tests I've done (in 1080p) the CS560 matched the response time of the Wii U's gamepad exactly, putting it in the 1-2 frames range. There is hardly any noticeable increase in lag when upscaling from 480p and I can play timing intensive games and online FPS with no problem. If you're buying this set for use with modern games, you'll be pleased with the lag performance. The color accuracy also seems to live up to LG's usual standards, although it's hard to know precisely how well without measuring with a meter. Every color is vivid and deep without appearing over saturated. The black levels are average at best, but the unbelievably bright white levels help to offset them and create contrast during bright scenes. The set is capable of 4:4:4 chroma sub sampling when used as a PC monitor over HDMI, but, as with other reviewers, it required me to perform the EDID override in my computer's registry. Regardless of the source used, the overall picture is extremely clear, vivid and detailed. The motion handling is mixed, but at least partly excellent with no visible streaking and only very light blur on moving objects during camera pans. There is, unfortunately, a large problem with juddering from most video sources, notably blu-rays at 24p. Almost any time the camera is panning the scenery and objects on screen will move in a jerky, strobe-like fashion. Past LG sets were able to handle 24p content smoothly, even models at much lower price points, so this obviously comes as a disappointment. If you intend to use the set mainly for watching blu-rays then you may want to buy the 2011 LK450 model instead. The feature set is another startling disappointment. The TV only has 4 inputs- 2 HDMI, 1 RF, 1 analog input, and no VGA or audio outputs whatsoever. To reiterate, there is no audio output, not even optical; once the audio goes into this set, the only way it can come out through the speakers. The analog video input functions as a joint component/composite input, meaning that you can't use both cable types at the same time. Users with more than two sources will find themselves having to use adapters or receivers to handle most of their connections. Some of the advanced picture options have also been cut, giving the CS560 the most limited menu of any recent LG (though it's worth noting that the range of options is still fuller than almost any competing set). The more pointless features such as "eye care" have been omitted, but some useful calibration tools have also been removed; there is no longer a color filter option, which means that color and tint calibration now require a pair of blue glasses to set. The 10-point IRE calibration has also been removed, leaving only the option for 2-point. The picture wizard seems to have defective patterns for brightness and contrast, yielding white and black levels that are wildly off target and impossible to match correctly (UPDATE: The Picture Wizard has been fixed through a firmware upgrade and now calibrates correctly). My own opinion of the 560 is that it's an excellent looking TV but one that grinds right along the border of "minimal" and "cheap". The set has been scaled back significantly compared to past models in response to the advance of LED, which seems poised to become the default backlight technology of LG's TV lineup. If you have simple tastes and just want a good looking set for gaming and occasional movie watching, the 560 is a great value and will perform well enough. If you're a more serious film enthusiast with a large blu-ray collection, then you may want to seek out an LK450 or choose a different brand to avoid the judder and limited inputs.

1They stripped a lot of features out for 2012 over the same 2011 model
By finally_cool_in_ks
Review written by K.WatsonThey stripped a lot of features out for 2012 over the same 2011/2010 line/models. The reasons are unclear. I assume to just make more money and fleece their customers even more. They removed so many great features that really made this a great set but they kept the price the same, which I would like to point out is already high compared to other models in the size. There is just no sense or logic in the stripping of these features whatsoever. They removed a HDMI port. Now there are not enough ports to hook up everything you need. Deal breaker for most potential customers right there. With just 2 ports, I've already had to pull out my set away from the wall several times to juggle between consoles, or if I want to watch a bluray movie or if I want to watch cable. It's a hassle. God only knows why LG would remove a very much needed HDMI port from us. Even the guy at Best Buy told us that he does not recommend this set to anyone because it has the least amount of HDMI ports of all their sets. He seemed really shocked. So were we.Movie quality is now worse. They removed 5:5 / 2:2 pull down from movies. Actually, ANY video content you want to display. 480, 720 or 1080. This means there is a huge amount of video judder / jitter present in any movie you watch. Go google "judder" it's a bad thing and you don't want it. But, if you buy this set, you will have plenty of it. Judder makes objects on the screen herky jerky when panning left to right, right to left, any panning whatsoever. Up / down, you name it. Objects will skip along the screen. God only knows why LG took this very basic feature out. It basically ruined this set. Even my daughter noticed the judder in her Disney movies and asked if the game needed cleaning. She is still at that age where she doesn't understand fully about bluray or dvd discs and thought that if Daddy and Mommy cleaned her "game" the movie would display smoothly. Of course it wasn't a game but a Bluray disc. They took out many many features from the user menu. Gone are many features that could be changed in the 2010 and 2011 version of this set / product line. Basically, at the expense of picture quality. Dozens of features were removed. They absolutely sabotaged this set and mangled what it once was. I know, I own both the LG 32KD450 and LG 32LK450. I apologize if I am being so harsh but LG warrants such a response and I think potential LG customers deserve an in-depth review. The night I returned my set to Best Buy, the sales person looked at me, puzzled I might add and asked me, what is so bad about this set? He went on to say two other people had returned theirs as well over the weekend. What a shame that LG would ruin such a fantastic line of TV sets by removing so many features that made this such a stand out TV against other 32" sets from other manufactures. Let's just hope that LG discontinues this model next year instead of releasing this kind of garbage upon it's customers. What I really want to ask LG is, why did you not want my money? Why did you remove the HDMI port and all those very important hardware features and menu features that made this such a great TV? Why LG?Update: I had a chance to speak with the sales manager from Nebraska Furniture Mart in my area and he tells me LG purposely crippled, removed these features, both hardware and in the user menu to make it's newer LED based TV's stand out against this set. He tells me that sometimes manufactures will do this to artificially highlight a TV in it's product line as having more features , better value, when the truth is, it never did. This is to drive sells in that area.I can tell you this LG. You customers are both smart and savvy and will see through this gimmick. I would also like to point out that when your customers are treated with respect, they become "loyal" customers. Pulling these kind of stunts will only drive business and customers away. I returned my set and I will not be looking at LG as a brand I would consider for anything in the future.

4Great TV for the price -- An Honest Review of LG 32" CS560
By LivingFit365
First and foremost this TV is not for high-end videophiles, audiophiles with highly sensitive, discerning taste, or dedicated, scrutinizing gamers. If you want that type of TV, you'll need to step it up a notch and of course pay more money. This is a medium, entry level 1080P TV with a clear, crisp picture and enough features to satisfy the average TV and occasional movie viewer, mom, pop and the 'family' -- That type of consumer. Maybe, just maybe some higher-end users will enjoy this as a second TV to use when they're not watching blue-ray on the high-end, expensive TV.Some reviewers criticized this TV for not having features of previous models in this price range. Well, I never had those features and don't miss them, nor do I need them. So to a new buyer its most important that you remember if you don't need a certain feature and/or never had it to begin with and don't miss it, it's not a big deal.I consider myself a savvy shopper and critical when it comes to quality of a product. I was looking for a low-priced TV that had some decent picture and sound quality. I just purchased this TV today from a local, big-box store for well under $380 and I'm very pleased with the great picture quality and especially the low price and great value. The other thing I wanted to mention is that don't over-buy in size. Everyone seems to want to buy the biggest TV they can afford. Well let me tell you, that's not always the best thing to do. I bought this TV because it is eventually going into a bedroom. So I opted for the 32". Right now it is set up in the living room and to be honest, the size is perfect for the living room. I was considering a 40"-50" at one time, and that would have been overkill. Also, DO NOT go by the picture quality at the stores no matter how 'great' they try to make it look. It's not a true representation of the TV's picture quality, nor how it will look in 'your' home, in 'your' lighting. It is also very hard to decide on a size when all the other sizes are sitting next to one another. It's very overwhelming a one can get confused trying to figure out which size will be best.My advice is to look at your room and space and try to decide on a TV that is not too overpowering yet not too small where the room dwarfs the TV. Here is an idea ... tape together pieces of poster board the size of the TV and place it in the space intended to get a perspective on size. Actually I think a 32" is a great size for most medium-sized rooms. Once you decide the size you're looking for, go shopping. You may change your mind a little bit smaller or a little bit bigger, but at least you'll have a base line to start before you go.Okay, so now with all of that being said and out of the way, here is my review.------Pros------Esthetics (design) ---> Modern, clean lines. Thin profile, but not the thinnest and not like the older, thicker models either. This TV has about a 2" black frame around the screen. It seems these days people are interested in the paper-thin frames, or the frame-less TV's. Actually, I 'thought' that was going to be my preference, as it is more sleek, minimalist, etc. But actually, when I got this home I really liked the fact it has a wider black frame. It accents nicely against the white walls and gives it sort of a 'picture frame' type of appeal. It makes the T.V. more of a focal point in the room. If you already have one big piece of furniture or artwork that is the main focal point of the room, then maybe a thin-frame or frame-less TV would be better in your situation. So anyway my advice is, don't go by what is 'trendy' go by what will look good in your particular home and environment. In my home the wider frame looks very nice. There are no buttons on the front of the TV, which is nice. It has flat, flush, touch-sensitive selectors for volume, channel, menu, etc. This keeps the TV looking clean, and uncluttered. Some manufactures hide 'buttons' under the frame or on the side of the frame. The 'clicking' of buttons just seems old-fashioned to me, at least now with iPads and such, and everything going to touch panels. I actually like the touch-sensitive, flat selectors on the 'front' of this TV within clear view of what I am pressing. This TV is very lightweight. Really it is. I carried this with one hand out of the store, and easily lifted this up onto my mantel with no problem. This means if you wish to move it from one room to another it can be done by one person. This was a blessing because I can remember not too long ago the behemoth tube TV's needed 3 people to help carry and install. This TV is truly a do-it-yourself TV. Nice!Assembly---> Easy. Out of the box, all that needed to be done is screw on the base, plug in your video source and power cord and that's it! You're done. Oh and put the 'included' batteries in the remote.Picture and Audio Set Up ---> Simple and intuitive. Using the 'picture wizard' guides you step by step to calibrate the TV and adjust picture settings. There are advanced settings to fine tune the picture even more. The auto-tune feature pulls in all your cable stations into the built-in tuner fast, easy and automatically.Selecting the audio preference is just as easy. Faux surround sound, etc.. Just a few selections and you'll soon be listening to the TV to your liking.Picture Quality ---> Sharp, vivid, clear picture quality for the price. Now compare this to the 50" plasma the store had on display running Avatar on Blue-ray and this TV pales in comparison. (but so did most of the other TV's on the floor). The bigger TV was 5+ times the price of this one. So you get what you pay for. Watching ABC, CBS, NBC and other cable stations, this TV has an amazing picture that will not disappoint. Blue-ray and DVD are just as fine.Audio Quality ---> Pretty good actually. It has a faux surround mode that does a nice job of dynamically enhancing the sound. There is also a feature to enhance the voices too so they don't get lost in background music and such. This TV does not have the tinny, AM radio sound you may expect from a low priced TV. Nor does it have the booming sound of a higher-end TV. This TV has very acceptable and clear, crisp sound for the price. The sound easily fills the room. You won't be disappointed in the sound from built-in speakers.USB connector ---> This is a nice, added feature if friends or family come by and you'd like to watch a home video or pictures on your TV. Just plug in the USB drive and start watching.Remote Control ---> A very basic, simple, easy to use remote. You won't find a bunch of confusing bells and whistles on the remote. No it's not going to make your toast and start your car. Nope, it has just exactly what you need and nothing more. So, the reason I like that is because I don't have to worry about family or guests trying to figure out how in the heck to turn on or operate the TV with a confusing remote. It spares me the agony of conducting a 'TV 101' classroom session for family and friends. Ugh!----Cons----Not very many cons actually. I mean for under $380 dollars for a 32" 1080P TV, you're really getting great quality and value. Seriously, technology is advancing so rapidly that in 5 to 10 years most computers and TV's are behind the times and out of date anyway. So, at this price one could easily afford to buy another mid-level TV like this one every 5 years. On the other hand, spending $1,000+ on a TV to try to get a few more bells and whistles might extend the time a bit more until it's out of date, but probably not by much. In 5-10 years you're still stuck with an out-of-date TV.Hookups ---> No VGA connector to hook up to a computer. This is only a slight con, because you can use one of the HDMI connectors if your computer has an HDMI. Most newer computers have HDMI.Some people are complaining this TV only has 2 HDMI connections. This again is only a slight con, because you can buy an HDMI 1080P hub and expand the amount of HDMI connections if you really need more. For my needs, all I really need is one HDMI to hook it up to Apple TV and one for my blue-ray player That's it. The Apple TV pretty much does everything I need. It has digital audio out, so I can hook it up to a surround sound system If I choose (expanding the capability of the TV) And what is not available on NetFlix or my purchases, I can use my Blue-ray player. I can mirror my iPad through Apple TV to have internet on my TV. So, having only 2 HDMI connections is not such a drawback, for my needs anyway.----------Conclusion----------The LG 32" CS560 is an excellent TV at a very low price. It combines a clear, crisp 1080P picture quality with impressive, built-in sound quality. For well under $380 dollars, you can't go wrong buying this TV. This TV is not going to replace a high-end theater or gaming TV for your theater room, but it will make a good living room, bedroom or family room TV. Who knows, once you buy this TV, you may decide you don't really need to spend extra bucks on a bigger, home theater TV. At such a low price, it allows a person to purchase a newer TV in 5 or 10 years without feeling like you're constantly spending tons of money to always upgrade your TV. You'll be surprised how much quality is packed into a TV at such a low price.---------------------------------If you liked this review, you may enjoy other reviews by me.
