5Phenomenal TV for under $1,000
By Lusayalumino
Review Westinghouse SK-32H240S 32" LCD HDTV HDMI PIPGreat job Westinghouse! Excellent picture for a 720 (1080s are better but much more$$).Has 2 HDM inputs!! DO NOT buy a TV with fewer than two HDMI inputs. Later you will inevitably end up with at least a DVD & Satellite if not other HDMI devices. One great feature is that one of the HDMI inputs has a separate analog audio input. Normally, the HDMI carries its own audio, but if you run a Dolby 5.1 amp with center channel, you can run the center channel directly to the TV as your center channel with the HDMI analog audio input!! The TV has excellent speakers with great Bass & Treble controls and two 10watt amps. All the cords run down the sides of the back of the TV so they do not get smashed against the wall. This means you can purchase a $20 HDMI cable from Belkin @ WalMart instead of an $80 HDMI MonsterCable at BestBuy. Furthermore, the side access makes it easy to access your hookups while the TV is against the wall. The TV does have PIP (Picture in Picture) which is not always present on entry level HD TVs. Unfortunately, it seems that only the VGA (PC input) works as a second source for PIP. By the way, the VGA looks phenomenal with your PC. Run the VGA at 1280x768 or whatever has closest proportions to 16:9. I hookup my notebook computer and let my digital pictures play on the TV on my wall... just gorgeous. Also, work on your PC while using a small PIP window to watch TV (but you will not be able to use the HDMI in PIP so will need to use alternate inputs on the TV to accomplish this). This TV has a Great remote control to boot.In summary: Compared to other TVs in the same price range:1) Better Picture2) More inputs/outputs3) More features4) Better remoteEXCELLENT PURCHASE!!

1Worked great..but then something happened
By Joe C.
I purchased this TV from a big box retailer in July of 2007. I chose this one after looking at the picture and color compared with the others in the store and I was very impressed. It worked get for the first six months. Easy to set up and to use with all my different components (dvd, vcr, sound system, cablebox). However, six months later, I have been having some horrible problems with it. It scrambles and has some horrible color problems (whites are showing up pink and blown out details). I started calling Westinghouse after the first of the year and got the run around. I had the cable company out to check the signal, switched out 2 cable boxes, and did the factory reset a couple of hundred times. It took calling every week for a month to get them working on this. Finally, I was able to get them to send me a box and now its been sitting with them to make whatever decision they are going to make.Although this may have been a rare problem with my particular tv, I feel the way in which it was being dealt with was inexcusable. If a product has a warranty, it should be dealt with in a swift manner. This is a lot of money to be messing with. I would look elsewhere for a better company who respects their customers.

5Beautiful TV!
By Tyler V. Snow
My wife and I could not be more pleased with this TV. The picture is simply beautiful, whether you're viewing something in HD or not. When we were picking it out, we compared this TV with other models with the same size, and our choice was obvious. Everything priced above this model was priced WAY above it, because those models were the top brands like Sony and Sharp. Everything priced similarly to this model, or below, had clearly lower picture quality. We have used this TV for over a month and have experienced no problems whatever. The "overfill" mode for non-HD TV stations works great, and the sound quality is what you would expect for built-in TV speakers. I honestly have no complaints about this TV!If you don't want to fork over the money for the top brands but want a high-quality TV whose picture looks pretty much the same as the top brands, you should give this Westinghouse TV some serious thought.

4Doesn't Claim to be 1080P
By Red Peters
If you read the technical specifications, it clearly states that this television is 1080i, not 1080P. This is why we research before we buy.

5May not be 'TRUE' 1080p, but GREAT picture.....
By D. Berry II
This TV looks so much better than the 720p 50" plasmas for me, it was a no brainer. Most 'true' 1080p plasmas start about $1000 more than this TV, LCD's at 50" cost 5X as much. I really can't tell a difference between this Hitachi and the 'true' 1080p plasmas, if you can, your eyes are better than mine. You can save $400 to $500 by getting a 720p 50" plasma, but you will sacrifice some in resolution. Go compare them side by side, just make sure the inputs at the store are 1080p resolution to show the difference. I am VERY HAPPY with this TV. I bought it for $2000 4/5/07, look around and you can find this price.

5Big picture, not so big price
By Auntie Dee Dee
Just had this delivered two days ago and am totally pleased with the picture and I don't even have the HDreceiver hooked up yet. If you didn't want or expect to get HD, still get this set as the standard def picture istremendous. I am not a technophobe nor audiophile so I found it a bit puzzling to get access from dvd, ps2 orwhy the picture wouldn't come back on, but a little fumbling and I did finally catch on. Totally my fault. Thesound is good for me, I'm not looking to be launched towards the back wall with monster sound. I saved more than $1,000 from my next choice, so there's still Christmas in this house!

4I'm disappointed with you Samsung.
By Paul A. Freeston
Okay first off let me say that I think Samsung does make some of THE best TVs out there. But this isn't one of them. I have been looking for a high quality TV to play games on and for movies for a while now. I got an e-mail from Amazon stating that the new 2010 models from Samsung were now available. I thought great timing since I just got some back-pay owed to me. I wanted a 32" TV since the room this was going into is not very big. I looked around the internet but there were no reviews yet, just the manufacture description. So I took the gamble and bought this one. I received the TV three days ago, and have been bummed since. Okay for the review. First impressions: Beautiful TV, I really like the styling and glossy finish. I actually laughed at how skinny the box was. Set up was not hard at all and they provide cable management to hide the cables from the back. THEN I turned it on. QUICK NOTE* It states that it "absorbs ambient light and virtually eliminates reflections", I say BS! It has the worse amount of reflection on any TV I have ever seen. My computer monitor sits on the opposite wall (about 14' away) and I can easily read text from it. When trying to watch the news, I couldn't see half the screen because of the reflection, it is that bad. If you know anything about HDTV, then you know that the Black Level is the number one factor in picture depth and quality. The black on this set is not black, though you'll probably only achieve that on a plasma, here it is a semi dark grey even after adjustment. Again disappointing since I saw a deeper black on their own 32" 360 series at Walmart that was about $500 cheaper too. Now for the biggest complaint, yes there's more, it is the amount of back-light bleed. The top corners have a grey fan shaped bleed that extend about 5" inwards, in the middle on the left half of the screen there are four large bleed throughs about 7" square each, and a 6" bleed in the middle of the right half of the screen. These bleed throughs or clouding is visible even in bright images. It makes the image wavy like. Also of note for you gamers out there, the Game Mode is ONLY available with HDMI. I have the older XBOX 360 so I use the Component cables which means no Game Mode for me. I also have the 360's PC VGA cable, but again no Game Mode and you with those you cannot adjust sharpness, color, or black level. I did find another review here on Amazon for the 55" model, same series, and it looks to have the same problems. As you can probably already guess, I will be returning this.***Updated 3/24 -- Okay I decided to change the ranking from 2 stars to 4 stars in that I have since calmed down and knowing that it was just a bad panel. So for anyone interested in this set, please take the review with a grain of salt (I also decided to leave it up, instead of deleting it). Overlooking the bad panel part, here is a few impressions of the set. For one, it is a beautiful set, very dark and glossy. Though just know that the screen is very glossy, black mirror like, but in a light-controlled room it shouldn't be a problem. I didn't get a chance to view any blu-rays on this so I don't know its potential. I did watch a DVD through an XBOX 360 (Kung Fu Panda) using component cables and it looked fantastic, honestly the best I've seen it. Didn't get a chance to go online with XBOX Live, but I didn't see any lag in the games I did play. I also didn't get to calibrate the set (since I was returning it), but out of the box, colors were good, blacks were not ink black still, but fairly dark with good shadow detail. I also found that this IS edge-lit, but all of the literature kept saying LED Backlighting, If I known that I wouldn't have bought it since I personally don't really like edge-lit displays since they typically have uniformity issues and flash-lighting (looks like spot lights from the edges), though not all edge-lit displays have this. Hopefully If you decide to give it a try, you will get a better panel.

4I'm super happy with the TV
By SeeBeeKay
I was at first torn between this Samsung, which is nice and thin but only 60 hertz, and other thicker sets in the same price range which are 120 hertz. I'm glad we decided on this thin Samsung. It is gorgeous, and for us the beauty of the TV set outweighs any subtle improvement in motion scenes obtained by 120 hertz.I agree with previous reviewers that the screen is glossy, and you can see reflections under certain lighting conditions when the scene is dark. But this doesn't change the fact that the picture is beautiful. If we are trying to watch TV in the daytime, we sometimes have to pull the shades to avoid seeing the reflection of our windows on the TV screen. If you are worried about this, I suggest testing the area where the TV will be by placing a mirror there. Sit where you normally sit to watch TV and see if there is a reflection of a bright light source such as windows in the mirror. If so, you will probably have to eliminate the light in order to watch the TV without distraction. I'm not convinced other new TVs are much better on the reflection issue.I don't agree that the screen causes motion sickness. Perhaps that reviewer had selected a setting that we didn't. In general, we left all enhancement settings off.I am using the TV as a monitor for a recent model Mac Mini. In addition, we have a Playstation 3. Our receiver is old and does not accept HDMI, so we are using the Samsung TV to switch between HDMI sources, and using the optical out on the TV to get the sound to the receiver. This setup works great, and the TV makes a terrific computer monitor. However, make sure you turn off the Samsung TV's edge enhancement feature if using this as a computer monitor. Edge enhancement makes computer text and graphics look exceptionally bad, and it was a relief to discover that turning this feature off fixes the problem. When we're watching news, the TV's speakers are great. When we watch a movie, we switch on the receiver for better sound. It took a while to sort out how to get HDMI output from the mac mini. We first tried the Monoprice Mini Displayport Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Converting Adapter, but the TV gave an error message and did not show a picture. We returned the Monoprice Mini Display Port and purchased the more expensive Kanex iAdapt 51 Mini DisplayPort to HDMI with 5.1 Channel Digital Audio, which works great but required rebooting the mac in order to get the correct resolution. We don't use the Samsung's built-in tuner, so I can't review that. We watch using EyeTV for the Mac.The user interface of the TV is easy to use. The remote is thoughtfully laid out, but the touch sensitive controls on the front of the TV are hard to operate because you have to get your face right next to them to see where to touch. On the other hand, the fact that you can't see these controls makes the TV more beautiful.I wish Samsung had allowed users to program completely custom names for the sources. As it is, you can select from a preprogrammed group with names like "PC," "Game," etc. (I wanted "Mac Mini" and "Playstation 3"). Also, it would be nice to disable source inputs that you are not using, so that the TV will only switch between sources you are hooked up to. A feature like this would make it easier for guests and grandparents to operate the TV with minimal hassle.I agree with another reviewer that the screw holes for the wall bracket are not the same as for most TVs, and if you want to use a full-motion mount you will have to spend some time finding the right screws at the hardware store. In our case, our wall mount had 100mm screw spacing, and the TV has 200mm screw spacing, so we purchased the LCD Adapter Plate. We purchased four M8 x 25 bolts with 1.25 pitch at our hardware store, plus four thick washers. We had to drill out the holes on the LCD Adapter Plate to accept the M8 size bolts (it was set up for M6), which was easy to do with a cordless drill and the right bit. We also used the four gray spacer sleeves that came with the TV, which prevented the Adapter Plate from blocking one of the TV's cooling vents. This setup took some work, but it looks and works great. It would have been nice if Samsung had either standardized the mounting holes or provided the necessary adapter hardware in the box.

5Great tv!!!!!!
By Trent A. Thompson
After reading reviews all over the net, I still went ahead and purchased 2 of these. I use them as computer monitors fyi. Yes there is some glare but not near as bad as what other people have experienced. I've got them in a bright open room near a couple windows too. Everything is crisp, bright and beautiful. Text is clear and movies are gorgeous. Maybe I'm not a visual snob but I found that the sets didn't need much adjustment to get to where I like. There are plenty of connections for my needs and the ambient light sensor is a nice touch. Only issue I've found are the light sensor gets a little twitchy in the morning as the sun comes up and the evening when it goes down. They go from bright to dim as the ambient light settles. Overall I would highly recommend this tv to anyone!

5Should be a top seller.
By SFMD
I was hesitant to purchase this TV with one review online that didn't give it a good rating. It appears the TV was reviewed before it was released. Since then, the firmware has been updated which shows Phillips is committed to improving their product software in the long run. Also, you can't beat the price and features. A trip to a local retailer showed how nice this line of TV's are. The frame looks nice on the wall, with a consistant width all around and rounded corners. The picture quality is good and blacks are black with no bleeding. 120Hz display makes action smooth. Sound quality is good and the speakers are on the back of the TV so if you are mounting on the wall, the sound gets reflected back nicely. As a bonus, you get 4 HDMI ports. Most in this price range have 3. I have yet to try the Wireless Media Connect and Apps but I will update my review when I do.This is a great buy and looks nice mounted on the wall.Update: 11/25/11Still working great. The apps and streaming from a PC to the TV also works good. The only gripe on the PC to TV streaming is there is a few seconds of lag. This could be attributed to the fact that my stream is going over wifi. Some content such as Copyrighted DVD or BluRay streams are blocked.Tip: Put it in Game mode for lag free gaming.

5awesome picture for a good price
By Shbrai
That's my second Philips TV. I decided to buy Philips again because was very happy with my old TV. It was the right decision... it is cheaper than other brands like Sony and LG, and in my opinion the picture is even better!!The 120Hz makes really a difference when you are watching sports. Amazing! The connection with Internet services like NetFlix works perfectly using my WiFi... really convenient. The initial setup couldn't be easier!!I recommend this product!!

3Really nice TV
By Jeremy McGuire
We got this TV a few weeks ago, and so far I really like it. As a TV, the picture and sound are outstanding, as a supposed "smart" TV, not so much. I have my wireless router about 5 feet from the TV and the connection is still laggy. The UI for the TV is sluggish. I'd suggest using a roku player or a gaming system to connect to the internet. The only thing that is nice about the wireless connection the TV has is for updating the firmware. But my overall experience for the TV has been positive.

4Excellent value for the money!
By R. Ocampo
Plasma technology is still the best in terms of brightness, contrast and physical dimensions. You can hang it on a wall and cramp it in tighter spaces. The other option would be an LCD screen, but the picture quality (artifacts) and price factor would make it an odd decision to go for when you could shell out a little more for a Plasma display. Also beware there are two types of LCD screens - LCD and LCD projection. LCD is the same as the computer monitors. Although it has greatly improved since it's introduction, it's still slow and expensive. LCD projection I would shy away from at the moment because it doesn't compare to DLP. Although Sony came out with a so-called "3LCD" technology to rival the high-end DLP 3-chip systems. Know that DLP was first for the 3-chip technology (for their high-end applications like major movie houses), it's not who's first as time will tell how each fare.Yet a good rival that has been hitting the market is LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon). JVC has renamed this HD-ILA and Sony came out with their own name branding - but they are all LCoS technology. Prices have yet to come down and is said to have none of the "cons" of LCD and DLP projection TV by exhibiting good blacks, great speed in drawing the picture and no rainbow effect. Until prices drop to competitive levels with the rest of the other products, this won't be on my list until next year. The next best option behind Plasma, IMO, is DLP by Texas Instruments. It gives the best blacks and color rendition among it's class of projection televisions. How good is DLP? It was the first and no-brainer choice for commercial theaters that project digital movies (i.e. the first digital screening of Star Wars prequels). These are front-projection units that need a reasonably dark room to refrain from washing out the colors it projects to the screen. For personal viewing in bedrooms and living rooms, you need a rear-projection DLP. This encases the whole unit like a regular projection television, and is more kind to ambient light.A. The downside to DLP rear-projection monitors is:The amount of moving parts it entails to create the picture -1. A digital micromirror device (DMD) to reflect light in 1,024 different shades of gray. Because these tiny mirrors each move independently, there is a risk of failure.2. A color wheel that spins in thousands of revolutions per minute to help create the color. The wheel bearing will eventually wear out and will need to be replaced by a technician over time. Furthermore, the noise created as it spins to speed is evident when you power up the monitor. Although any minimal audio volume will drown this sound out.3. The lamp (light bulb) that projects the image onto the screen, just like any other light bulb, has a usable life. Each manufacturer states how long their bulbs will last before it needs to be replaced. A typical life span for 4 hours of viewing each day will last around 4 years. The good news: it only takes to replace the bulb in order to bring the picture quality back to like new just as when you bought the TV. This is versus Plasma and LCD which lose their brightness over time (LCD rear projection also takes replacing the bulb).4. The amount of heat created by the lamp is enormous that you can't box the unit in a cabinet nor stick it's back side too near to the wall unless you want to increase wear on the monitor or create a melt-down.B. The upside is the picture quality you get. In fact the price you would have paid to get this kind of quality and usability over time is unfathomable you would be glad you didn't have to pay for Plasma (of course if you can afford a Plasma or need to hang it on a wall, then this is your only option). Just replace the bulb and you're good to go for another 4 years or so. You can't do that with a Plasma and re-charge the gasses. Unlike Plasma, it's brightness virtually stays constant throughout the usable life of the lamp. Samsung will warn the user when it is nearing the end.C. Physical dimensions enable you to lift the monitor alone. Try doing that to a CRT. Samsung's "floating screen" design enables the picture to give a good impression that the picture is on it's own space. However, the silver accent below the screen (although very elegant) does not fully take the effect into what they are marketing it to be as any light falling on the silver accent reveals the screen is not floating. With all being said, four stars for this monitor because Samsung gives us a lame manual that leaves the technical savvy people out of the loop and questioning for more information - despite the TV having one of the best picture quality and Samsung technology loaded into the monitor (enhanced picture processing and the abillity to fine tune the colors based on ambient light surrounding).Four stars because despite all the technology loaded, they give us one HDMI in socket that doubles as the old DVI socket care of your own ability to buy an HDMI to DVI cable. No FireWire audio input/output unlike other manufacturers. And only one digital audio output courtesty of an optical Toslink connection. The good part is Samsung's strict policy for defective mirror devices, strict manufacturing tolerance and elegant design which helps you trust buying their products more than other manufacturers.A word of caution to shoppers and owners of DLP and other technology that enable true high definition output: the reason for most bad reviews is their disappointment when watching with various low quality sources. They are mislead into thinking their picture quality will improve with these kinds of monitors. On the contrary a monitor of this caliber will show even more imperfections and reveal the low quality output that is being fed into it - garbage in, garbage out. Subscribing to digital cable/satellite isn't enough. You have to subscribe to HDTV and be viewing HDTV sources in order to see it's full potential. MTV isn't HDTV. Know which channels air in high definition. Discovery Channel HD (not simply Discovery Channel) is the perfect viewing sample. You want to maximize the input of sources by using HDMI/DVI cables. Don't use RCA or S-video jacks for this monitor. The least video cable you should use is component cable. Even that I wouldn't recommend because that would mean transmitting analog video signal from source (cable box, DVD player) to TV. Keep the signal pure and clean as possible by keeping it digital until the last minute.Lastly, this monitor's standard output is 720p (progressive) output. Other lower or higher sources fed into the unit will make it convert to 720p. This is helpful info into putting less strain or digital conversion and artifacting to the monitor - feed it 720p signal already so all the monitor has to do is output directly rather than do further processing. If you want the latest technology, this "old" technology isn't for you as there are already a handful of 1080p monitors in the market including monitors made by Samsung. If you're on a budget and want a bang for your buck, you won't make a mistake with this purchase and handing it down the line when you're ready to make a step up into the future (for the same price you purchased this unit).

4Samsung 42" DLP TV
By Dandy Don
The performance of the Samaung 42" lived up to my expectations. I comparison shopped SONY, SHARP, HITACHI and DELL before selecting the SAMSUNG. The luminosity (aided by the picture mode settings) is adequate for viewing in a well lit room. The picture quality is exceptional for HD channels and DVDs in the 480p mode(as good as any of the LCD TVs). Performance on normal analog channels is fair to good compared to direct view TV performance on the same channels (both HD and analog are off cable). Digital audio sound is excellent. The setup and custom adjustment menus are easy to use but sometimes annoying as the menus have 4 to 5 layers. The TV fits in a very small space for its screen size (width and depth are the smallest available for this size). The manual is good but assumes you understand HD terminology and doesn't explain the difference in performance when choosing many of the settings. I highly recommend this TV based on its price to performance delivery.

5Great TV
By James E. Holthaus
I had a problem. I had a bright room that I wanted a TV in and I wanted a larger TV. I thought that rear projection would not be bright enough for the room, but this I can view this samsung TV better then the tude TV I had in the space before. Also, this TV is so light. I replaced a 32 inch tube that was 170lbs with this TV that weighs less then 70.I do have to admit that I have seen the rainbow effect on this TV once in the month that I owned it, but to see if you have to jerk your head and blink at just the right time. Otherwise the picture on this set is stunning with the blackest blacks I've ever seen on a TV and true to life color.

4Good TV, great price
By MdniteEagl
I just bought this unit from Sears for $759, and it's been everything I expect. After reading the review at CNET, it appeared to be the LCD I wanted. I wasn't interested in 1080p because I'm neither a gamer or that overly concerned about seeing every blade of grass during a game. The Vizio VX37L is very adjustable as far as color - you will see reviews about its color settings out of the box (people look like they have terminal sunburn), but the unit is not only fully adjustable for red/green/blue and tint, but has a separate setting for each input (RF coax/antenna, A/V, component, HDMI) so if you like HDMI a little brighter than standard def shows, you can set it that way. You'll also read comments around the internet about the sound quality. If you're an audiophile, just connect a sound system to the audio-out connections. For the integral speakers, the sound improves remarkably if you use an HDMI connection. The 37-inch screen is the perfect swap if you're going from a 32-inch 4:3 unit. The picture height is almost identical, and you gain 7 inches in width to give you the 16:9 image. If you're looking for HD on a budget, and aren't someone who must have maximum resolution, this is a very suitable television at an excellent value.

5People Let's Be Real
By M. Johns
I have heard all the negative about this LCD and I just don't understand. I purchased mine from Sears 700.00. This Vizio is an excellent LCD monitor, now I got more than I had anticipated: Internet use(surf the net and watch a game at the same time w/o twisting my neck); HDTV for sports and a few other channels, who cares about seeing every blade of grass, it is all about what marketing does to get into your head about what is good and not so or likes to think they could control your mind and tell you what is good. Like anything else, one must look at what he/she needs and will you be able to use all of the connections, for instance. I have a fairly new JVC 7.1 reciever, but it does not have the HDMI inputs(I have component), so I can't use it to the fullest capacity, but in time I will move up and do so, but it is not important now. I see people complain about the sound, but they must remember this is not a stereo LCD TV, now if you want that you must make the hook-up to your stereo system to get the full surround sound. (I did this with my CRT, Klipsch 5.2, Vandersteins;bdrm Bose 5.1 KEF and JVCOne other thing to mention, if your equipment doesn't support our ever-so-changing technology, your Vizio can not morph your stereo system into something it isn't.PROS:Sound: is excellent for what is in it (Bose, Klipsch, KEF, Vandersteins or Bang & Olufsen are not inside the Vizio)but they are adaquate to listen to and not hard on the ears.Picture: great and adjustable and again I can't stress this enough, it is as good as your equipment.Remote Control: can do everything needed and can learn to control most if not all of my equipment.Setup: Very easyCons:Now this is a knock on the industry as a whole, the (I) & (P) is frustrating, because years ago they came out with progressive scan DVD players and I had all my family and friends purchase nothing but progressive and now the LCD's and Plasma are 1080i(p). The industry is just greedy, so if you don't have DVD(HDMI input), HD-DVD or Blue Ray, your DVD players w/o HDMI will resort back to 480p just like the CRT.Sound: none if you connect it to your stereo and if not, I've had people on the phone telling me to turn it down, again you get what you pay for.PIP: you can only access it if you have the HDMI, Component, RGB. Why have all the connection if you can only access if you have certain equipment. This is not the Samsung 4665F which I feel is the best on the market (when you can get it for 1800.00). Vizio is a great viewing device for the price. Do research before you purchase and talk to anyone that has the set you are looking to purchase.MJ from CA

5Great TV!! All About Value
By Mike S.
This is BY FAR the best value on the market for LCD HDTVs! I have one in my living room for 6 months now and haven't had a single problem with it. Compliment after compliment from family and friends (and it was cheap!).BTW ANY 37" LCD is max 1080i, the screen is too small for 1080p.Advice: Mount it on the mall with the mount from Vizio.com, very easy & less expensive than anywhere else(about an hour time, one strong person)Hope this is helpful! -Mike NYC

4Excellent... So Far...
By BlueMango
Purchased the Vizio VX200E 20" HDTV last night at Sam's Club for $170. I had been considering a Samsung LN19B360 19" HDTV to replace our older non-HD Samsung 19" LCD on the kitchen counter. The Vizio VX200E caught my eye with a great picture, larger yet still compact size plus a lower price compared to the Samsung... so off I went with the Vizio. I'm connected directly to the cable... no cable box, no outside antenna. When given the "Turn On" command, the set does take a few seconds to "warm up" before switching on, but that's not a show-stopper. After going through the setup procedure, we were pleased to be watching a top-notch picture considering the price. Broadcast channels in HD over the cable look great on this set. Sound quality is satisfactory though a little hot on treble... haven't tried to adjust sound or the picture/ color... default settings are quite good.I wonder if TV remote design engineers use the products they design?? Seems that none of the TV remotes are flat on the bottom so one can push remote buttons with the unit sitting on the table/ counter without ending up with the remote flipping over.Overall I am very pleased with this product... after less than 24 hrs of use... it's performance over time will determine my long-term view of quality & reliability.

3disappointing
By spin_nin
This set was for use in a kitchen. Based on the low price, lots of available connectivity, decent sound quality, and it is a good size for the application we went with the Vizio. The TV falls short in the most important area which is picture quality. It is not sharp, it is very pixelated at all times, and suffers from major motion blur. Images just don't look right on this set. Colors were vivid though.Used an OTA HD signal from a roof top antenna that doesn't display like this on other sets.I suggest spending a few bucks more and go with a Samsung or LG in this size range. Their picture quality is excellent.

4Nice TV for the price!!!
By Clem J. Pemberton Jr.
After comparing similiar sized TV's at Best buy, Sam's Club, and Sears, I purchased this TV at sears for $179 last thursday, it was a an internet purchase returned to the store. I like the fact that it was 20 inches not 19, and I liked the Vizio over similar offerings from Samsung, Dynex, Sylvania, and Insignia. I purchased it for use in my home office, would have prefered a black housing instead of white, but that was not a concern. I got it set up and hooked it to my Dish Network DVR via coax cable and the non hd channels look good when setting the tv to the Zoom 1 setting, and watching the Winter Olympics on the local NBC HD channel looks fine, I went on the internet and looked and the recommended viewing distance for a 20" to 5 feet so it looks a little fuzzy closer up as compared to it being in VGA mode for the computer, the other knock on this Tv from what I read was that it has only a 160 degree viewing radius, but since I am will primarilty the only one watching it, was also not a concern. The tricky part was hooking it to my notebook computer, which was the part of the reason for buying it. I used a VGA cable as oppose to HDMI, the native resolution is 1600x900 and windows 7 set it up correctly, but on the TV the computer image was pushed way right, and up. I called tech support and the women was of no use in assisting me in correcting the problem. I moved internet explorer over to the tv screen and after maximizing the window, I then using the TV settings, played with the horizontal alignment, size, and vertical alignment and got it adjusted correctly and it looks just fine. The remote is quite large, but its no bigger than my DVR one so I don't mind. My initial opinion is that its a great tv for the money, so only time will tell on the the durability.
