2Other things to consider before buying!
By mikkblai
This isn't a horrible TV by any means, picture is decent, and everything works as it should. However... for an $580 TV I have found quite a few things I am very unhappy with, that I didn't really consider before buying.-the TruSound feature had to be turned off within the first two hours... horrible volume fluctuation at the wrong times...-from the time you push the power button expect about 15 seconds before you see a picture (seriously I counted)-once the picture is up...expect another 2-3 seconds for any sound-the same is true for changing channels, NO QUICK SCANNING, its takes about 7 second start to finish one channel to the next, after you enter the channel about 5 second before it turns, then another second or 2 before there is a picture, and yet another couple seconds before there is any sound. **THIS SEEMS LIKE AN ETERNITY WHEN YOU ARE SWITCHING BETWEEN CHANNELS OR SURFING.-my other complaint is the volume control... there needs to be at least three more volume numbers between one and 5. One is able to be heard easily from the next room. TWO is already almost too loud if your the only activity in the house. 3,4, and 5 show very little fluctuation in sound, which I wish was the case for 0-3!

5Great TV - Great Price
By H. Berman
I am not a videophile and have pretty basic viewing criteria.I did a fair amount of research but realized that most of what people were discussing on the forums would be meaningless to me when I got the television home. I looked at televisions in person -- again, to my "untutored" eyes they all looked pretty much the same to me except for one house brand at Best Buys which truly did have an inferior picture even to my non-discerning eyes.I haven't noticed any sound discrepancy but then I can't remember the last time I actually watched a commercial since I watch everything through TIVO and fast forward through all the crap.I also don't notice much of a time lag between changing channels and I think any delay is probably relating to a cable box since this changes at the exact speed as my prior set.It does take about 10 seconds to warm up but that's hardly a huge issue in my life and I don't know whether other LCD sets have the same start up rates. The set was quite a bit cheaper than an equivalent set bought elsewhere - free scheduled delivery - the guy did attach the stand and turn it on but it was up to me to set up the rest which was fine. Delivery from Best Buy was quoted at $75.Vizio seems to be relatively reliable and reliability is somewhat of a crapshoot anyway since my highly rated SONY only lasted 5 years. Given the price differential between this set and its competitors, I'm sure I will be fine with my amortized usage. It's 60 mz - After researching I determined that my viewing habits had no need for 120 since I don't watch sports. Sound is no better or worse than any television and I might see if I can hook it up to my unused BOSE CD player.

5Great TV
By Chris
I have to say, I am very pleased with my purchase. I do however agree with the previous poster. The sound fluctuation can be a bit annoying between commercials, inputs, and channels. My last TV did this, so it doesn't bother me too much. Also, there is no sound delay (picture and audio not matching) this was a big concern for me, I have a friend with a 52" Sony Bravia and another with a 47" LG that both are slightly off. For a 42" 1080p less than $600 I couldn't pass this up.I would recommend if you don't mind changing the volume from time to time.

2Odd ghosting problem
By F. Miller
I tested this TV at an in-store display to determine if it suffers a similar ghosting problem I have with another Sony TV - KDL-26L5000. Sadly it does. I tested with a few pre-recorded scenes known to illustrate the problem on the KDL-26L5000.The odd ghosting problem is not the typical motion blur noticeable on fast moving objects. This ghosting manifests as a streaking or shadow movement. Most often it seems to affect facial features such as lips and around the eyes which seem to float off people's faces as they move from side to side. The effect is dependent on the scene being viewed - lighting, motion etc - typically occurring in dark scenes or scenes with areas of highly contrasting light and dark areas.Happily the KDL-32EX400 does not suffer from this problem. If you consider yourself a critical TV viewer, consider spending a little more to avoid this sort of annoying problem. For casual viewing this is probably not an issue.

5Super sharp picture at a great price
By T. King
I have only had this TV for a week, but I have to say that I love it! The contrast is excellent, the sound is decent, and the price was right at $400. I purchased this model for a very small game room. The sharpness of the picture was my top priority because we are sitting so close to it. I am very happy with clarity that the BX300 provides.

2A TV that can't handle motion well...
By J.A. Stevens
This was a Tv that I was really hoping would be great, but sadly I was mistaken.Pros: Good cable TV quality, Sound isn't too bad, the design is really sleek and nice looking, still picture quality is good.BIG CON: Basically you can't watch anything too dark on HD programs or ghost trails will manifest behind moving objects. I had my 360 hooked up and character's heads would look like shooting stars when they would move across the in game environment. Like other reviewers have stated, actor's facial features appear to be floating on their faces. I was EXTEREMLY irritated by this.I have since returned the TV and have ordered a Panasonic L32X2, so hopefully that will answer to my TV needs! :D

5A Unique Perspective
By Gregorian
I don't want to rehash everything the other reviewers have noted, so I'll try to keep my points fresh and quick.MAIN POINTS:1. You really need to adjust the picture settings on this TV (duh). Doing so will result in exquisite picture quality. I had heard that this TV gives "flagship quality at a mid-range price" and I am here to confirm that; Game of Thrones on Blu-Ray looks absolutely incredible. (Skip to the end of this review for my picture settings)2. Virtually no input lag for Xbox games (crucial for FPS).3. IR (image retention) has not been an issue whatsoever, even after playing Xbox games with a static HUD for a few hours at a time.4. I am disappointed with the sound quality, mainly because other reviewers said it was better than most other TV's in this price range. While this may be true, in the end I consider it to be barely useable. However, when spending well over 1K on a TV you should probably invest in some sort of sound system also.5. Buzzing has been nonexistent thus far, will update if I notice it.OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:1. Stand does not swivel.2. Very slick styling; looks great in person.3. Remote looks like it was made for a 1998 geriatric technology convention. (who cares about the remote, dude?)4. There is no questioning the excellence of Amazon's customer service, but the "scheduled delivery" is worthless. Mine was scheduled from 9am-12pm. When it finally arrived at 5pm (lol) the driver said, "Nothing runs on time with freight." So be prepared to block out a whole day to receive this item (keep in mind this was my experience, not sure how common this is?). Amazon did give me $60 store credit for my troubles.5. I have not had any problems with the ABL (automatic brightness limiting), but I do not watch hockey so if that is your thing then you might want to do more research.6. I am not evaluating the wifi capabilities or apps because I connect to wifi through my Xbox and stream everything through it.PICTURE SETTINGS:-Background (for semi-noobs like myself): it seems many people use D-nice's picture settings (he is a calibrator that posts on the hi tech junkies forum). He recommends downloading some picture prep slides that he posted and running them for 100 hours to evenly age the phosphors on this TV. I didn't do this, mostly because I'm lazy. Other people use David Katzmaier's settings (he is a calibrator and reviewer for cnet). Ultimately I decided to place my settings exactly between these two "expert's" opinions because neither hit it dead on for me. Keep in mind these are dark room settings and that my TV hasn't been "properly aged." Frankly I don't care because these settings look perfect to me, but I may need to readjust in a few months if some "aging" occurs.-Picture:Picture Mode: CustomContrast: 80Brightness: 58Color: 46Tint: 0Sharpness: 0 (yes, turn this all the way down from 50)Color Temp: Warm2Photo Enhancement: OffC.A.T.S: OffVideo NR: Off-Pro Settings:Colorspace: NormalW/B High R: +5W/B High G: 0W/B High B: +2W/B Low R: +8W/B Low G: 0W/B Low B: +1Black Extension: 0Gamma Adjustment: 2.4 (I dropped this from 2.6 because my personal preference is slightly brighter)Panel Brightness: MidContour Emphasis: OffAGC: 0-Aspect adjustments submenuScreen format: FullHD size: Size 2H size: [grayed out]Zoom adjustments: [grayed out]-HDMI SettingsLeave all settings in this menu at their default-Advanced picture submenu3D Y/C filter: Off [grayed out]Color matrix: HD [grayed out]Block NR: Off [grayed out]Mosquito NR: OffMotion smoother: OffBlack level: Light3:2 pulldown: On24p Direct in: 60HzHope this helps!!

5Great TV, Great Value, Few of the Issues You Are Worrying About
By Drew Miller
Bottom line: Beautiful picture (black is really black!), nice internet functionality, and little impact from the issues that have been noted here and elsewhere.Prior to making this purchase I did many hours of online reading that consisted of: CNET, AV/high def message boards and reviews, and Amazon reviews and comments. I asked myself the same questions most TV purchasers ask themselves: plasma vs. LED/LCD, Samsung vs. Panasonic, etc. I purchased the 60ST50 from Amazon and it was delivered in the middle of June 2012. By way of background, I own three other LCD's (one of them an LED/LCD) and this was my first foray into plasma. I felt like plasma was a low risk choice for this TV as it is going in a basement with no windows. The general consensus online is that the ST50 is the best value available for an excellent picture. Always wanting to get the biggest bang for my buck, this consensus opinion was the number one factor in my decision. As I said, I read a lot of reviews and, despite the consensus above, had a number of reservations because of issues that others encountered with the ST50. Here is a summary of my concerns and my findings. I should note that I ran the screen prep slides that you can find out there on the message boards and then played around with two different suggested calibration settings. I have no idea whether the screen prep slides are necessary and can't say whether they prepared my screen for calibration. What HAS been proven is that I am a serious nerd.Screen buzzing: Some reviews have noted screen buzz. I was very concerned out of the gate as the screen prep slides have a white slide. When this slide was shown and all of the phosphors were glowing at 100%, there was a clear buzz emanating from the TV. You could hear it from everywhere in the small room where I was prepping the TV (what a nerd!). The good news is that the buzzing actually reduced over the time that I ran the slides. In a larger room watching actual TV content, it is not audible from in front of the panel even when the content is quiet. If you stick your head behind it, you can still hear a low buzz. My recommendation: do not buy this television if you plan to watch it from behind. Otherwise, if you will be watching it conventionally you should be relieved to hear that I have no issues with buzzing after the break-in period.Viewing in a bright room: As noted, this television is for my basement but I had a chance to view it in a fairly bright room and with ceiling lights above. Generally, no issues. The filter works fairly well. I could see issues if you had a room with lots of bright sunlight where the windows could reflect off the panel. If that's your situation, you're probably considering LED/LCD anyway. Only you can decide what's right for your individual circumstances.Image retention: Another early scare: my Directv rebooted and the directv logo was onscreen for 15 minutes or so. When it was finished the image was retained as a shadow for 30 seconds or so and then it went away. Gave me a quick scare but wasn't anything to be concerned about. I have had the menus open for decent amounts of time. I have watched channels with logos. I have watched several movies with black bars on the top and bottom. No further issues.Hockey: The one entertaining guy in the Amazon reviews that had hockey issues might have scared me. But I don't watch hockey. I have, though, watched baseball, basketball, football, soccer, golf, track and field, etc. They all look great. No issues. Some reviews have noted that the picture is too dark relative to an LED/LCD, has no pop, and looks washed out. I will tell you that the picture is different from an LED/LCD. This television has very lifelike pictures and colors. It's a very refreshing change. The best part of this television are the blacks which are really black. My wife, who usually doesn't notice such things, said, "Wow! The picture is so bright." (Hint for those that don't find it bright enough after calibration - adjust the gamma setting for instant brightness).I really like this television and am happy with my purchase. If that changes over time, I will update this review.

5Panasonic plasma is the way to go
By TechGuru
Received this p55st50 tv on 3/6 from Amazon. Must be amongst the first few owners, ordered without looking at one in store as not available to date. Amazed by the picture quality, black levels and popped up colors.I have owned a 42" panasonic plasma for last 7 years and has always found it superior in natural color reproduction and movie picture quality when compared to LCDs.It was a time to upgrade. I did look at some LCDs but never found them any close to plasma in natural color tones and movie picture quality. I think Panasonic offers the best quality plasma amongst very few plasma manufacturers left in market. So picked p55st50 which is at competitive price, superior than last years best rated vt30 and offers most features from higher line ups for 2012.Here are few major features stood out to me. Will add/edit later.. - Amazing picture and color quality. Noticeable improved motion smoothness, vibrant colors - profile is prettey slim. Around 1.5" thik. Thickness is uniform from top to bottom exept the edges on all four sides are thinner. The bezel is better(thinner) than last years st30 model. There is a clear plastic extention around the bezel which is not enhancing the the look and I guess is added to provide protection against any damage to the edges. There are no buttons on front of the pannel only the remote sensor the power light and I guess a ambient light sensor. The power, volume, channel and menu buttons are on the right side back of the pannel which easy to access when needed. The black bezel is almost non-reflective and offers no viewing distraction as I have noticed in some other brands. The new antireflective screen appers to be working well. The screen itself displays very less reflection even while watching in birght room with big multiple windows - 3 hdmi(1 with arc), 2 usb inputs on left back side which I guess are more than sufficient as most wouldn't hook up more than 3 hdmi sources and those who do and invest in this expensive tv would also have a reciever with multiple hdmi inputs. - Out of the box the colors were displaying some tint/non-natural tones but after changing/adjusting settings they are looking great. I might have noticed this as I am used to watch a 7 year old plasma. Now actually I started liking the popped up colors and they are definitely look attractive when compared to LCD displays. Black levels and details in dark are amazing. Haven't seen as deep black levels in any other tv yet. I preferred cenema mode for bluerays and custom for HD cable. SD videos showed some pixalation but that is expected on a 55 inch large display. Some lower resolution DVD and SD videos are not as sharp as on my old 42" 480p panny again the magnification factor of 55" display is to blame. But most dvd video with good resolution were displaying perfectly without any pixalation. I was blowen away by the picture sharpness for blueray and hd cable channels. - Did not notice any of the issues like fluctuating brightness, fbr discussed for 2011 panny tvs in various forums - Very easy and simple set up - Installation was quick (except - two people needed to lift and slide the panel into stand. Understandable considering the 55" size). Set up was very simple and intuitive. Connected via 5GHz wireless. There is option of connecting via ethernet but so far I am not noticing any bandwidth issues on wireless. - The viera connect and internet features are great. DLNA support is amazing. Could connect to ps3 media server application on my pc and stream some dvd movies with dolby 5.1 sound. Browser wasn't installed out of the box, but could install it from viera market. There is android and ios app to control the tv as well as browser from smart phone. - Netflix HD movies looked great. Was no way to determine the resolution but picture was clearly hi defination, better than dvd format, no buffering/stuttering. - There are plentey of movie streaming apps including amazon, vudu and others some subcriptin based some free. - Other than movie streaming and browsers no other viera applications I guess are much useful. There are weather, news, fitness, game applications out there but I think smartphone/tablet is better device to access them. - The new advertised 8 train speakers with 3d sound - I checked out the tv sound , was crystal clear, with some sourround effect but not something which will replace your 5.1 sorround system. I have Onkyo 7.1 system and the sound was no match to Onkyo. Quickly switched back to Onkyo. Plugged ps3 and cablebox to reciever via hdmi and used optical out from tv to connect to reciever for audio from streaming, audio/video applications, sd/usb streaming. The optical out from tv is passing dolby digital signals but as from online forums the optical connection can pass only two channels. Good for most but if you want all the channels when available you will need hdmi cable with audio return channel and a supporting reciever.- The browser and the touch pad on android phone to control browser doesn't looked like fully baked in. The cursor is very difficult to move/control. Moves very slowly. The browser also wasn't easy to navigate around. Hopefully Panasonic comes up with updates to browser and phone application to address these areas. The android remote application is fully functional and very handy except the cursor control. Could project photos from my phone onto tv.I wasn't able to control the cabel box and ps3 connected via hdmi using the viera link. I guess only panasonic products are supported. Would be great to get support for other devices to cut down on number of remotes. No new compatible Bluetooth 3d glasses available yet. I tried 3d in store on last years gt30 and it was looking awsom. Expect 50 series perform better in 3d display. So overall

5Very Happy Birthday to Me!
By E. Baker
I've had my new LG for a week and I'm thrilled with it. We bought this T.V. to replace an older 19" CRT for the den, where my wife and I end up watching T.V. in the evenings because the kids are doing homework or entertaining in the room with the big HDTV. The picture is so crisp, and the colors so vibrant, that I find myself looking for excuses to turn it on and watch it. I'm afraid to admit it, but I may actually prefer my new 32" LG to my 60" Sony! I liked the swivel base, so I was choosing between this set and a Samsung at the same price point. The pictures were very, very similar in quality, but I chose the LG because it was a newer model than the Samsung, and the Samsung was really at the low end of the Samsung line, while this LG is more in the middle of the LG line. The picture was great out of the box, although the T.V. is packed with features allowing you to tune and tweak the picture settings to your heart's content. I'm also very happy I didn't spend more money for a 1080p set. At 32" the 720p resolution looks awesome, so I can spend that extra $150 on something else. Add to all the above the fact that the set looks fabulous sitting in its cabinet, and you have a great value. Thanks LG!

5Great choice for small room
By Veggie Grower
This TV deserves another 5 star rating! It's perfect for our bedroom. The picture and sound were great on standard settings right out of the box, although it has several alternate pre-sets and infinitely tweakable custom settings. The big menu is very intuitive but it also has a quick menu that pops up in the lower right corner for quick changes to common things. The remote is small and has well spaced, easy to use buttons.I wanted a solidly built TV with decent sound and my wife wanted no clutter and simple operation. This one is all black, no "bling" but has enough features and connections so we could use it for more than a standalone TV. The "invisible speaker system" is pure genius and gives a surprisingly full sound without needing a speaker system and amp (no clutter). More importantly (to me since I'm a bit hard of hearing), the clear voice and auto sound leveling (quiet parts automatically turned up while commercials don't come out blaring) both work well. It's one of those "set and forget" things. Here are more pictures and specs: [...]A technophile could hash over the finer points and compare this to others in its class, but as far as I'm concerned: it's a new model, has a clear, bright picture, the faces and landscapes all look realistic, and it has great sound, so how much better can it get? Of course the news and some commercials are still way over the top with color saturation and contrast, but that's not the TV's fault.6ave get's five stars too. I'd never heard of them until I saw this item, but 2 minutes on their website convinced me they were organized and reputable. It came wrapped in a second box with foam peanuts all around it to prevent shock. The order was placed on Sunday and it arrived Wednesday morning in perfect condition. They are in the same league with NewEgg, B&H Photo and BuyDig. Also UPS called us to make sure someone was home to sign for it.One last thing... the manual power switch and all the other side controls/connectors are on the right side out of view, and that little bump on the bottom frame (on the right) is a subtle status indicator light that glows red or blue. The main jacks are all on the rear left (as you would face the screen) and it has a built in wire guide that can help keep a few wires neater.Overall we are both very, very pleased and now we are planning on replacing our big rear projection box with a sleek LCD TV, probably a bigger version of this one.So get off the Samsung bandwagon and get this one before they sellout. Nothing against Samsung at all, but some marketing genius has stolen the attention from other well engineered new TVs available on Amazon.

5very good set
By John
this was on sale at BB. Ordinarily I'm not that crazy about lg. The samsung in the same size had A LOT more reflection. if this is an issue for you, think hard about the LG. This set has an excellent picture, good sound, and it is easy to adjust the picture. No need in my opinion for 1080 in this size (or any other size unless watching a lot of blu-ray.) Big features of this set were light weight (easy to move) and very low reflection from other light sources.I'd get it again.

5Gamer and HD Fan
By blankwave
I purchased this set after a lot of research online and in various stores, and a lot of penny pinching. I am more than happy to own this set.First off, it's refresh rate is perfect for fast motion items, such as sports and almost any videogame: there is no lag in what you're doing on the game pad and what you see on the screen. Many HD's have a "ghosting" effect where an image moving across screen leaves a bit of a trail in it's wake. This TV doesn't have that problem. I'm running an Xbox360 on it and the clarity and depth of the image is amazing. I have an HD cable box as well and nothing else comparable in this screen size and price that I saw in the stores, besides the Samsung, looked nearly this good The Samsung is high quality as well, but it's blacks didn't look as BLACK as the Sony. So I went with it for it's crispness and refresh rate. Also found that LCD HDTV's are expected to have a very long life before any picture degrading, the longest of any technology out right now.Another reason LCD is impressive and worth your hard earned cash is because they don't get burn in with any regular use. This was VERY important to me as many videogames have a constant display (health bars, points, etc.) on the screen and I have seen friends with plasma tv's that were ruined after a couple of months of casually playing video games on them alongside dvds and tv. This was the number one reason I was holding off on stepping up to HD, and I'm glad I waited because it was worth it.The HDMI input is AMAZING. I'm running that to my HD cable box. I can't wait for HDDVD players to come out, because after watching HD HBO and seeing a movie on it that I own in my DVD collection, well, let's just say my DVD player hasn't been getting much use since I brought this puppy home. I watch every single nature show on Discovery HD that I have time for, and when you see it yourself, you'll know what I'm talking about. BUT DVD's on a progressive dvd player still look great, just not as good as true HD, and that's not the TV's fault. Really though, DVD's and movies in HD over the cable box look better than seeing a movie in the theater.I have a 6.1 surround home theater set up, all Sony components actually, and the experience is astounding. Late nights though, my roommate goes to bed and I only run sound through the tv's speakers and the sound is still very clear and has a good range. If you're not an audio buff, you will be more than happy just playing this straight out of the box. If you are an audio buff, you'll be impressed, and I'm sure you'll be able to bring it to life with your own setup.Bottom line, if you want an HD NOW, this is the one to get in this size range. But you don't have to take my word for it!

5A worthy set for anyone
By Tony M. Phan
After my 4-year old 32" Hitachi plasma set was toasted with some serious burn-in issues, I hit the books and the stores to see what was out there for a replacement set.LCD TVs have come a long way, and panel sizes keep getting larger with each passing year. I decided on a direct-view LCD TV because of the aesthetics and good experience with a Sony KLV-23M1 23" LCD set I purchased last year. The TV itself looks pretty slick and should blend in with any decor. The bezel surrounding the screen has been made thinner compared to previous sets and is now a charcoal/graphite color, which doesn't draw your eye's attention as much as some of Sony's prior bright silver-rimmed models. Along the bottom of the screen is a light blue/green frosted strip, which things like the IR sensor and Power light are embedded into.Sony includes a little plastic clip that corrals all your cables towards the middle-back of the set, making for a cleaner appearance from the front. A nice touch is that you can turn the TV about 15 degrees to the left or right on its included pedestal. The on-TV control buttons have been moved to the top, allowing for a thinner and cleaner area below the display. The speakers are along the bottom of the screen, and put out some decent sound on their own. The pseudo-surround effects, while no substitute for a proper 5.1 or 6.1 system, do a pretty good job of approximating a wider soundstage. Watching The Fifth Element while flipping between surround and stereo modes showed a marked difference with no impact on dialogue clarity.Like other reviews have stated, standard-definition content is nothing special when viewed on this TV, and its quality brings out a lot of flaws in the image that I couldn't see on a regular tube TV. The set was most at home when I put HD content on it, like an Xbox 360, HD-DVD player, and over-the-air HD programming. Regarding the latter, the KDL-32S2000 has both NTSC and ATSC tuners, so you don't need an external box to get over-the-air HD signals. You'll have to tweak the picture settings to get the most out of the TV, the Vivid mode it defaults to is really bright and oversaturated, blowing out fine details and highlights in the picture. Calibration DVDs are inexpensive, I usually use either Digital Video Essentials or Avia.I'm pretty sensitive to refresh rates, and some PSP games can make me nauseous due to that unit's well-documented poor-responding screen. The refresh rate on the KDL-32S2000's is great and I didn't notice blurring or color shifts at all.I watch a lot of TV shows on DVD, and you'll get about the equivalent of a 27" square TV when you view 4:3 material on this set. There's a few zoom options you can use to stretch or crop the image to take up the entire display, but I like seeing the show as it was originally presented.Physically, the remote control is pretty cut-down and cheap-looking and feeling compared to previous Sony remotes. However, the button layout is simple and Sony has simplified the TV's internal menus and sped up navigation, which makes for a more pleasant user experience. I especially appreciated the drop-down listing of all the TV's inputs, from which you can just scroll to and select the one you want.Speaking of inputs, the KDL-32S2000 has a nice assortment, my only wish is for one additional HDMI input. The jacks on the component inputs are a tiny bit closer together than on my other TVs, and some Monster cables I had with big fat plugs had some trouble fitting in without rubbing on each other. This is more a cable problem than a TV problem, as all other cables I tried had sufficient clearance. My set was made in Japan (20 years and no Japanese-made Sony electronics failures, knock on wood) and Sony's customer support was excellent when it arrived with a couple of dead pixels. A replacement arrived quickly and was flawless. Balancing nice design, quality construction, features, a surprisingly decent price, and the Sony brand name, this set is an appealing contender for your hard-earned dollar.

2Developed Picture Problems after 5 Months
By Gregory L. Dauria
This is the fourth Sony television that I have owned. Currently, we have a 57 inch XBR CRT Rear Projector in the home theater room, a 36 Trinitron direct view CRT in the living room, and most recently the 32 inch Bravia (subject of this review) in the master bedroom. We also recently purchased a brand new Sony T9 Cybershot camera. I have also purchased three Sony camcorders over the years. The point of the aforementioned is that Sony has always delivered quality electronics and I have stayed with their products in return. When I first purchased the 32 inch LCD Bravia everything worked very well and it appeared to be another fine product. After approximately 5 months of operation the television developed - for lack of better technical description - a pixel problem. A permanent dark splotchy image appeared on the left hand side of the screen. At first the image was hardly noticeable, but then intensified to the point that it could be readily seen in all video formats. To be fair to Sony, this is the first problem that I have experience with a new product. When I called customer support, I was told to take the TV to an authorized service center, but since there are no service centers within 30 miles of my residence, Sony offered to replace the TV with a refurbished unit. I was not pleased that my relatively new TV was going to be replaced with such a unit, but since it carried the same warranty and Sony assured me that it would appear and work like new, I agreed to the exchange. The first indication that something may be wrong is when the crew that delivered the refurbished unit told my wife that they have to come back many times to replace the units. True to their observations, I quickly experienced problems with the video input switching function, and was back on the phone with customer support. I was told to reset the TV by simply disconnecting the power and restarting it. This quick fix eliminated the problem, but now I am just waiting for it to reappear. Not happy with the performance of the refurbished unit I requested Sony to go into their "A" stock (new versus refurbished) to replace my original Bravia. This request was rejected as I was told that the model has been discontinued - keep this in mind if you are thinking about purchasing this television.I recently walked through Wal-Mart and looked at the new LCD's on display. Many less expensive sets had as good, if not better, picture then my Bravia. I am sure that Sony has also improved their LCD televisions, and will be lowering prices to hold their market share against the increasing competition. They are a good electronics company with superb engineering capabilities, but I think they have considerable room for improvement when addressing a defective product and an unhappy customer.
