5Excellent quality, fair priced TV.
By OZ
I did an extensive research for my new TV. I compared consumer reviews, professional reviews and checked couple TV's picture my self.My conclusions at the end of research:1. 3D Samsung - I don't see this technology is ready for home use. 3D picture cause headache for lots of viewers, 3D effect diminishes a lot if you are watching TV more then 4 feet away from the screen, and who wants to wear this glasses all the time? Another factor is cost. It is high for what you really get. This technology will be much more interesting once it gets mature, but not yet.2. LED technology - I looked at edge led calibrated display by Samsung and I think it's not bad, but I see hallow of light at the edge of tv which reduces perceptual contrast. Otherwise edge led looks very similar to regular LCD, such I can't justify 30% more on average price increase.3. Samsung reliability vs Sony. Lots of people believe that Samsung is more reliable, but checking forums I discovered that Samsung has number of hardware issues with their tv's and reliability is not that great. Sony used to be great couple of years ago, then reliability went down and it appears that they are trying to recover their reputation back now. At the end, number of issues between Sony and Samsung is somewhere the same with Samsung having more hardware related issues and Sony has more software bugs. Software is easier to fix with new firmware release. This is based on their older models, since you need some time, year or longer of use to evaluate long term reliability.I bought this Sony at BJ and calibrated using AVIA HD and Avia Standard definition DVD's. I use it to play PS3 and my Home Theater PC.1. Contrast - very good. In dark room I notice a little light leaking in the upper comers of the TV. The picture itself has very deep blacks and excellent whites. So far it's one of the best results I've seen on any LCD.2. Sharpness - perfect, but watch for setting in video mode. My TV went to overscan with HTPC connected over HDMI. It was easy to fix by changing settings to pixel mapping for HDMI port.3. Brightness - it's LCD so it can be very bright. I liked Sony implementation of automatic brightness. It changes brightness based on available light in the room. The result is picture looks more natural to watch when you turn off the lights, and still bright enough picture during sunny day. Note: I calibrated the screen with low lights in the room, it's how I normally watch movies.4. Colors - not too bad from manufacture, but definitely improved after calibration. Very lifelike at the end. Conclusion:I'm completely satisfied with picture quality of this display and I feel this TV gives you more per dollar then any other.

5AWESOME!
By H. Brand
By now, you probably done loads of research on the different LCD TV's.. Samsung, Toshiba etc. I purchased this set a few days ago and have it hanging on a sturdy wall mount. What I can say is that the image quality is vivid and you will not be disappointed in the feature set. The motionflow100 is definitely something new and takes some getting used to. You may not want to have it ON all the time. Though when watching fast films for action scenes and sports, it will definitely make a difference. The TV has a very rich set of options and features, including slide shows and the handy USB port. Which only accepts FAT32 formatted USB sticks. it also requires registration on [...] to unlock certain DivX functionality.Overall, I believe that the 46' is the BEST LCD currently on the market - in this price range. With motionflow and the USB port being the deciding factor for me. It was well worth it. Remember, no wireless, no presence sensor, no internet connectivity. That wasn't a train smash for me. The image is crisp and vivid, HD films are an amazing experience on this TV. Now I'm off to get the right sound setup. If you done the research and have the money, GO FOR IT.. I doubt you'll ever look back.ENJOY..

4A decent television
By Whizzer U, Now with HD graphics and a touchpad!
I got the Sony Bravio as a replacement for my Vizio of similar quality. It broke down, and the line was canceled so that the repair people could not get replacement parts. Therefore, I got a choice of three TV's selected for "similar" functionality, and after careful consideration, got the Sony Bravia. Therefore, when I review this TV, I will be comparing it to the Vizio.Video: The video is good, and the 1080p, which is as HD as you can get, looks just as good as I saw on my previous television. The standard definition could have looked better, but it is very hard to rate standard definition once you have been spoiled by the appearance of HD. One of the nice things about this television is how well it handles fast scenes. Movement if very clear on this television. I never thought my Vizio was bad with moving scenes, but you definitely notice a difference in fast action scenes.Sound: Personally, I am not that concerned about sound. If I really cared that much about maximizing my sound quality, I would run out and purchase a theater system to handle that. I own one, but I don't use it because it isn't worth the extra power it takes. However, for the sony, sound needed to be set to 60/100 to get to a volume I am comfortable with. With my Vizio, I could get the same at 30/100. So the Sony has a much weaker sound. This bugs me, don't ask me why, but I like my Television to have a stronger sound, and the Sony doesn't provide, even if I would never go that high volumewise.Design: I wanted to mention the design of the Sony as well. The back of the sony consists of two component, two HDMI, and a VGA+computer sound (also an optical and outsound). The side consists of 1 composite, 2 HDMI, and a usb, which I will get into in a bit. The back ports are facing back, rather than facing down(piano style). For those of you who want a tv flush with the wall, this will be inconvenient because you will need to leave space for the cables to plug in. Personally, I prefer this style, since it is a lot easier to plug in cables than with the difficult piano style, and my television is on a stand, not a wallmount. But I can see it being difficult for wall mount people. The side ports are not really on the side, more like on the backside. They are completely obscured by the television, and are only about an inch and a directional change away from the rest of the ports, placed in a kind of tv cubby hole. All of the ports are on the left side of the television (if that is important to you). All of the controls are on the right side. I am very happy with the controls, which include everything you need to control the television, without the need for a remote like some TV's make you do.Inputs/Outputs: I already mentioned them, naturally the VGA + computer sound allow you to hook a computer up and use this as a massive monitor. I have not tested it, but I guess it works fine. The USB port is another cool function. Supposedly, you can plug flash media (usb flash drives or flash cards in USB converters) into the television, and it can read and play the media. It claims to be able to handle music, photos, and even video. My previous television lacked this ability, and I have yet to test it out. However, if it works like it claims, that would be a great feature if you have guests and want to show someone something, or you have downloaded video and want to show it on the TV without the work of converting and burning it.Personally, I dislike how they are getting rid of composite. The TV doesn't even have an s-cable. The composite is on the side rather than the back, fortunately, as I mentioned before, it is in a cubby hole of sorts and you wont see any cable sticking out of the side. Still, if you have any composite device, this forces it to the side, and you can only have one without some kind of converter box. I can't blame them too much, HDMI is the future and soon even component will be out of style. However, for those of us with aging DVD players that still work fine, we will have to consider upgrading to HDMI. Although it is funny to me that composite is fazing out, but they still give you a composite cable standard with any dvd player, blue ray disk, or game system purchase and force you to buy the HDMI or component with your own money.Menu: I like to mention the menu, because a lot of people don't. The menu gives you some options, although compared to my Vizio, the options menu seems a little limited. Either way, it should be enough for most people. If you are determined, you will have enough choices to tweak the video to your liking. I have a DVD Video Optimizer that allows me to set the TV to ideal conditions using images and tests, but the video has been nice enough out of the box that I have not felt the need to do anything with it.Overall: I enjoy the TV, although it disappointed me a little in the sound department, the menu, and the input. This is why I gave it a 4 stars. It is a good television, but when comparing it directly with my Vizio, I didn't feel it was quite as good. Still, most people wouldn't notice, or care, about those small problems, so I do recommend this television.

5Best TV under $800
By Wurms
I set this TV up for a friend and the factory settings are not all that great. I changed the settings to VIVID then turned off/low ALL the noise reduction, gamma, black, etc filters with color temp at warm. Sharpness down to 20. With those settings, WOW!!! I was blown away with the picture quality on blu-ray discs via PS3 (Layer Cake, 5th Element, TMNT). Absolutely gorgeous picture. Played Battlefield Bad Company and it was a crisp, sharp, clean, beautiful picture. Gaming looks great!!! If you are looking for a 32" set, this is THE ONE! Best 720P 32" out there. Never seen anything better for this price.

3Not Bad For the Price
By Rick Buchanan
My parents were looking for an HD replacement for their aging 32 inch CRT set, and they did not want to buy anything larger for their relatively small living room. After doing some online research and looking at various sets in the store, I thought (and still think) the Samsung LN32A450 was significantly superior to this set. In the store I thought the LG picture looked almost dingy by comparison. However, the LG was about $200 cheaper than the Samsung, and my parents bought the LG. I set it up for them after swapping out their old cable box for an HDMI capable cable box, with no problem. The instructions for assembling the base were very sketchy, but we figured them out. I connected the set using an HDMI cable from the cable box, and component video inputs from their older Sony DVD player. At first the picture was very bad, even after setting the picture on the home setting. I found Vivid to be unwatchable, and changing to Cinema was almost as bad. Shadows were blue and flesh tones were green. I did some more searching online, however, and found recommended settings for the set, on CNET. LG has remarkably precise picture controls for a set in this price range, allowing for a ten point IRE adjustment. After some playing with the menus (which are not very intuitive) I managed to calibrate the picture using the suggested values for red, blue and green. The result was very good, if less than stellar compared to some other sets in this price range. In a low light environment the picture is clear and crisp, and the color is very good. Flesh tones after the adjustment were accurate. Football in HD was very nice, with accurate color and no motion problems. Non-HD cable movie channels were fine for modern films, and for black and white. The contrast was not that great for non-HD channels. DVD playback from an older player without progressive scan was adequate, but the black levels were not as good as some other sets I looked at. This might improve with an upconverting DVD player. In full daylight I had a problem with glare, and a commensurate loss of detail in the picture. This was easily remedied by closing the drapes.I was able to program the universal remote supplied by our cable provider, and switching from cable to DVD and back is fairly simple. The sound can be set for a pseudo-surround mode, which was fine within the obvious limitations of such small speakers. The sound is certainly as good as any other set within this price range.Bottom line, in my subjective opinion, is that the LG is more than adequate for the price after some calibration of the picture, but not as good as the Samsung LN32A450, and certainly not as good as a 1080p model (for example, the Samsung LN32A550), even in this size screen.

44 1/2 stars...
By ThisThatNEverything
We have the 42" in this TV & liked it so much we got this 32" for our bedroom. This TV is mainly used for gaming & it's great for that. The picture is great & the sound is good in our smaller room. The design of this TV is great. It's a nice TV to look at.My only complaint would be that it's not as fast to change channels or to go from cable to game mode very fast. It would be nice to be able to assign one button to switch back & forth between just those two (or whatever your needs are).Setup was fast and easy.I would highly recommend this TV. For a smaller room anyway. I can't vouch for the sound in say a living room or another larger room & I point this out because we sometimes have to max out our 42" in this style in our living room & it's still not very loud but for a smaller room I'd definitely recommend this TV.

5Wow, Better than Plasma?
By Wild Kat
The XBR4 has blown my socks off. On display at the electronic store it actually looked worse than my other LCD Samsung LN-3241D. After fine tuning and adjusting the picture, whether it was recent non-HD DVD's or HD content, with the 120Hz Motionflow, Pixar's Toy Story looked 3 dimensional, and the colors were nothing I had seen before from this DVD. I am so happy with this purchase and the higher price tag is well worth it. I also watched a streamed Netflix movie (Amadeus), using the PC input, and the movie quality was ok. With the Samsung the streamed quality is noticeably not as rich in color and a bit grainier. I Recommend this LCD TV. Sony is definitely the leader in high end TV's. P.S. I am not a Sony fan boy, I am still angry about the root kit found on their CD's.

5Sony Bravia XBR KDL-32XBR4 32" LCD HDTV
By mr coffee
I ordered the 32" LCD Sony Bravia XBR KDL-32XBR4 32" LCD HDTV from Amazon as it was about $200 less than Cir**** C***, B*** B**, etc. because I had seen other SONY XBRs and the picture just had the best color picture of any brand I saw. The unenhanced contrast ratio is tops (if you study all the spec stuff, this means BEFORE they use the electronic make-it-look-better circuitry) and it really shows with a good signal. Sony makes cheaper 32" models, and this is their flagship model. It cost a bit over $1100.It took 3 days to get it out of the warehouse and get me a tracking number and an email that said it would be here in 8-10 days. The freight company called me 2 days later and delivered the next day. The freight driver helped me get it out of the box and told me to keep the box until I was sure it was A-OK as he said another shipping retailer (Crut*******) wouldn't accept a return without the original box. The set was in perfect condition, all the little stuff (cords, remote, cable gizmos, etc.) was there, manuals in english and spanish (maybe french too, it's a world economy now, eh?), etc. etc. No evidence it was other than a grade A straight from the factory brand new "first" (Tig** Di**** sometimes sells refurbs, seconds, etc.).Took me a while to get it set up and figure it all out - I called Sony customer support 4 times getting all the home theater sound, DVD, VCR, HD satellite dual DVR stuff going. I am pretty techie but these things involve new connection types and the manual gives you the simple dumbed-down diagram that shows a picture of the set connector bay with cords going to various pics labelled DVD, VCR and a one sentence explanation. Sony support spoke good english and when questions ran off script they put me on hold and went and asked someone who knew more to find me an answer. Wikipedia helps too Sony support were more than willing to stay on the line with me and take me step-by-step through the hookup and trouble-shooting. Didn't think I'd need that, but these things are way more complicated than the old stuff from 10 years ago.I really liked the fact you could set up the TV on-screen input selector with labels that actually indicate what each input IS from (DVD, Satellite, cable, VCR, game, computer, etc.) and set the selector to NOT display (skip) unused inputs as you scroll through the inputs. My wife will probably be able to learn to actually run this setup by herself after a while. Hooray!I had a 24" TV before this, and it is nice to be able to see a movie again without my picture being shrunk down with top and bottom bars to a 16"-set-size picture. The HD is really clear, but even my plain vanilla DVD player (non-blueray) with the red-blue-green discrete video outputs make movies look really awesome. The Sony has a special converter to change the frame rate from the TV rate (30 per second) to the Motion picture rate (24 per second) which makes everything CRYSTAL CLEAR!!!I was a bit uneasy about ordering a big ticket TV from Amazon, but I'd do it again in a second.

5Ahhhhhh ... Football Season on My New Awesome TV
By Me
Just got done watching opening weekend of the NFL on this set and it was amazing. I decided to splurge on this TV after considering lesser options and even older Sony 32" models and I'm glad I did. The 120hz refresh rate combined with the Bravia engine gives amazingly smooth motion for sports and action movies. The color reproduction is great - I'm a stickler against bad skin-tone reproduction (just visit your nearest big box store to see loads of large screen junk with orange people).I am a big fan of smaller screens, by the way - in today's HD world I think that 32" - 40" at most is the current sweet spot. Stretching available pixels any father dilutes the quality in my mind. So if you don't have a McMansion and you can handle a smaller screen consider this TV - it is so vivid that it betrays it 32" size by the way; you would swear it's a 40 incher.

5Outstanding TV
By Tom D.
Before making my purchase I had narrowed down my choices to the Sony 52XBR9 LCD, the Samsung LN52B750 LCD, the Samsung PN50B860 plasma, and the Panasonic TC-P50V10 plasma. All had a superior picture, but I chose the Panasonic because:1. The Sony & the Samsung LCDs' both had viewing angle issues. The pictures were superb from head-on, but definitely deteriorated as you moved to the side. The Sony was worse than the Samsung in this respect.2. The LCDs' both had some motion artifact to my eye even with 240 Hz. The 240 Hz feature is after all an attempt to catch up to the plasmas, which have no motion problem at all.3. Several online owner reviews on the Samsung plasma mentioned problems with buzzing and problems with Samsung's customer service. Also, several reviewers complained of the Samsung sound quality. There were no similar complaints with Panasonic. This steered me away from the Samsung plasma.4. [..] and [...] both rated the Panasonic #1.Now that I have the TV in my home, I can say that I am completely blown away by the picture quality. It is stunning. The sound is more than adequate. The TV itself looks great. You can see some reflection from the glass screen from certain angles, but only if you're looking for it. Panasonic's anti-glare screen seems to work fine. There is no motion artifact even with fast-moving sports like baseball and tennis. If you watch from an angle, there is no deterioration in the picture. I might mention that I put the TV on a BDI #9634 table, and the two look great together. I did a lot of shopping for tables too, and I thought the BDI tables were the best-looking and the best quality.

3Good value and great picture quality - watch out for image retention, not for gaming
By Online Aficionado
We purchased this television after looking at other Sony LCD and Panasonic plasma models (G10, S10). Even this higher end V10 is less money than a comparably sized LCD by several hundred dollars. I chose this model over the S series for its networking capabilites and the G series for its 96Hz 24p film mode.Picture quality is superior to my Sony LCD, with deeper blacks, vivid colors, and great off-axis viewing. I generally stick with the "standard" and "game" picture settings. The display seems more responsive than my LCD using my PS3 for games, however it isn't a good choice for gaming (due to image retention, see below). THX mode also looks good with Blu-ray movies - not too dim, but perhaps a bit too green. The 4 cooling fans mounted on top of the unit are fairly quiet, I don't notice them. Our LCD does better in rooms with more sunlight and sound quality also seems better on the Sony overall, but the Panasonic may be more detailed.Unfortunately, there are two important negatives I've discovered. I am now having issues with "image retention". Video games with static images, e.g. health icons, leave faint shadows weeks after playing! This is most noticeable displaying a blank screen, e.g. selecting an unused input. Hopefully they will go away over time, but I am disappointed and in hindsight wish I had known this could be more of an issue with today's plasmas. Also, the Viera Cast Amazon Video on Demand feature is sluggish at times - I've read Panasonic may be having trouble keeping up with the server load. Perhaps the TV needs a larger memory buffer.

5The hype is right - this is Panasonic's best plasma yet!
By D. Bouley
I'm writing this as the former owner of Panasonic's 46" 800U plasma. This tv is fantastic. The picture quality is nothing short of amazing; [post break-in] image retention has been decreased significantly from last year's models; 96Hz 1080p/24 mode has eliminated flicker, and 48Hz mode is still selectable for those who prefer the cinematic look; MANY more settings to be adjusted (even though some whine about what they're called); energy-star compliant. I am surprised at just how much better the picture quality got from the 800u to the V10 series. My only complaint is that the speakers are not as good as the 800u...not that it matters, as I have other equipment to handle my audio. The software is fine. The picture is the best you'll get now that the Kuro is dead. Unless you can afford Panasonic's Z1, buy THIS TV!!ETA: HD Guru has just deemed the V10 the King of HDTVs. Long live the King!

5HDTV for the "rest of us"
By William H. Thomas
Although I work in a technical field and love all the new gadgets and gizmos as they come out, I consider myself on the "trailing edge" of technology. That is, I don't buy the new stuff until it drops considerably in price, whether it be GPS, I-Pods, or HDTV's.Even this season, with my 42 inch rear projection CRT TV (bought used for $200), I wasn't ready to make the jump to HDTV. My satellite service is in Standard Def, and just saw no reason to go to HDTV....yet.Well, my trusty 42 inch decided to take a permanent vacation and without a lot of cash (read zero....) budgeted for a new TV, and two teenagers in the house (which elevates TV from a luxury to a necessity), I went about looking for a cheap "interim" TV that would fill in the gap.Off to WalMart with little or no expectations and I started pricing around.I live in a small apartment, and although I was initially was hell bent to not go below 42 inches, my lack of liquid assets quickly told me that 42 inches was a bit above my price range.I found this TV on sale for $398.00. The picture blew away anything else in it's size and price range. And being almost 300.00 cheaper than a comparable 42 inch model, I decided to eat my pride and save some green.Like others here, I find the whole "eco/green" crap a little out of control, but in the case of this TV the whole ECO thing does two things.1. The TV is amazingly light. At just over 24 lbs with the stand, this TV is a joy to move around compared to that 42" tank.2. The TV is EXTREMELY energy efficient. At approx 85W operating and .33W standby (thanks to a slightly annoying amber VIZIO logo that can't be turned off without unplugging....), my kids blow more electricity going to the bathroom than I spend watching my favorite DVD.The fact that this TV is energy efficient is great, but if the picture is lousy, then it don't mean jack. I mean a TV that I won't watch because it looks like garbage is great on energy efficiency because it's off!!!Thankfully this is not the case. With a 15000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio and a pretty nice Viewing angle this TV is perfect for my small Apartment Living Room. In fact moving out that 42 inch rear projection on favor of this box actually makes the Living Room look less crowded. Now some of you may think that 32 inches for a living room is too small, but considering most of us were singing the praises of the "mighty" 27" TV 10 years ago, saying 32" is now too small is a bit disengenuous. But for larger rooms, you will find yourself spoiled and wish you had a bigger screen. But for my apartment, it's just about perfect. The one thing I didn't expect is the enhanced DVD viewing performance. Due to the 4:3 contrast ratio of my 42" TV, when I watched widescreen DVD's the actual usable picture size on my old TV was less than the what I get on the 32". So now my DVD's are actually "larger" on my "smaller" TV.On to HD....Being raised on Standard Def, I thought the hype surrounding HD was just that...Hype....WRONG!!!For 15 bucks I picked up a cheap "wall mount" antenna that I can use to pick up "off the air" HD broadcasts to watch my weekend football, and all I can say is HOLY COW!!!! Even with the smaller picture, the clarity and detail in HD broadcasts just makes the picture jump out.Overall, I am shocked at how much I love this TV. It is small enough to transport home without trouble, light enough to place on a cheap 15 dollar TV stand, and the picture is outstanding. What started out being an "interim" TV for the time being, just may be my size of choice for as long as I live here. At 32" the TV is certainly big enough for comfortable viewing, but not so large as to overshadow the rest of the living room.At $400 this TV easily falls into the "best bang for the buck" category for HDTV's of any size. Smaller screens just won't cut it for a family room of any size at all, and the price savings is not worth it. 37 inch models are not too common so your choices are limited in this area. The next "common" size is 42" and will easily run you almost double. Also, if you do go to 42" or higher, if you have DVD's or still some "standard def" cable/satellite, the imperfections of standard def will be that much more noticable on a larger screen. The instruction manual and quick setup guide are very well written, and you will have this TV setup in no time. The TV has a myriad of ways to connect up to various video sources, including two HDMI ports, Component Video, Svideo, SVGA, and coaxial. It even has an audio out that you can output to a set of amplified speakers or inexpensive surround system. One last thing to keep in mind. This TV is 720P and upscales to 1080i. This is the default resolution of all OTA HD broadcasts. 1080P is used mainly for PS3 and Blueray, plus a few Video on Demand services. So unless you are into Blueray, or PS3, 1080P would be a waste of money for you. Add this to the fact that, as others have mentioned, your ability to differentiate 1080P and 720P on a set of this size is negligible. In short, if you are looking for a great looking TV for your bedroom or your apartment/condo living room, you really can't go wrong with this model. Especially at this price point. The combination of Size, Picture Quality, Features, and Price make this as close to a must buy product as I can remember in a long time.Tremendous Value.

5Considerable Improvements to the Earlier Models With an Economy Price
By Kyle Slayzar
OK, first let me just get the ecology-friendly "green" crap out of the way, which we probably do not care much about anyway since we just wanna watch the game/movie/show. The new Vizio eco-lines consume roughly 85 watts while running (.33 in standby), which is somewhat less than its predecessors. This will marginally, if at all, effect your electric bill (the switch over from plasma to LCD will save you enough as is), but you can sleep better at night knowing your new green television will save the rainforest for .000000000001 more seconds - that should give the animals plenty of time to duck and cover when the bulldozers come in.OK, that crap aside, the new Vizio Eco-Line is a considerable improvement over previous models, which were specifically designed for economy and not so much performance. Vizio has done the unthinkable and focused on performance all the while lowering the costs to just about nothing allowing us mere mortals the opportunity (finally!) to purchase a strong 32 screen at a price we can afford. Now keep in mind that the standard resolution on the Vizios is still 720p and not 1080p (see Vizio's Java Series if you want a 32-inch in 1080p)) so it's not true-high definition. The product description states 1080i, but remember that it is only a simulated up-conversion (hence the "i" for interlaced) so it's not all that important. Besides, most human eyes cannot differentiate 1080p in 37-inch screens on down anyway since the resolution is too highly compacted on smaller screens. Now, the Eco-Line sports a considerably higher contrast ratio (15,000 dynamic) compared to the older models capping out around 2,000. Now, I know contrast ratio is arbitrary to the corporation making the screen, however, they do remain consistent within said companies so a switch from 2,000-15,000 is a quantum leap in quality. The differences between darks and brights is a lot more apparent, giving the picture more differentiation between the colors and presenting a more accurate picture for audiences. The hertz is still 60 Hz over the more popularized 120 Hz, but again, it's a 32' and not a 47' or a 55'.Now, the 32 Eco-Line Vizio does sport the usual refinements of its predecessors. My personal favorite is how it kept the scratch and impact-resistant screen cover. It can withstand anything short of a direct hit (and no, that is NOT a challenge) from babies throwing small objects to light impact from moving it around. This feature makes the Vizio line a favorite among families with little ones in the house.Vizio also still retains the bragging right of being one of the (VERY) few television makes still making them in the US. Granted the parts are made in China, but the final products are assembled and finished hear. Sony, Samsung, and Philips still make theirs in Mexico while everyone else pays tribute to the communists. All in all, the new Vizios have received very positive feedback from the customers I've spoken with whether it was their picture quality, durability and longevity, or the darn fine price. Vizio has leaped over Sony and Samsung in sales as well as achieved the best-buy title from Consumer Report for several years running and is expected to do so if they keep this trend up.A great buy!

4Good picture in store
By Richard H. Martin
That title has two meanings. This bargain 720p HDTV can be made to display a very good picture, but not if you 'obey' Vizio's instruction manual. You will pay a big penalty if you fall for Vizio's green marketing baloney. It appears that all TV manufacturers adjust their picture controls at the factory to make their displays stand out in a lineup on a shelf in the store. Often that creates a picture which at home is inaccurate, too bright, too contrasty, over sharpened, etc. Thus any new TV must be 'calibrated' to produce a picture that correctly reproduces the video signal it receives. Sure enough, Vizio does that with the VO320E too. But that makes it draw more current. So during the initial setup routine the manual advises you to select the "Home Mode" rather than "Retail Mode," to "give you the opportunity to save energy." It says nothing about any effect on picture quality. So, good (and penny-pinching) citizen that I am, I dutifully punched in Home Mode before proceeding, a few days later, with calibrating the set using the Digital Video Essentials (DVE) system. When I finished the picture indeed looked pretty good... at night in a very dimly lit room. But in daylight it was lousy--dim, dull, and washed out. An unpleasant surprise, since a review of inexpensive LCDs in the October, 2009 issue of Consumer Reports had graded the VO320E's picture as "excellent." By then I had forgotten about that "Home"/"Retail" toggle, which doesn't appear in the VO320E's regular picture-tuning menus. After considerable fussing with brightness, contrast, color and other controls, often in flagrant violation of what DVE advised, I was about ready to return the set--which I bought for our brightly illuminated kitchen--when I realized that, duh, a little more juice might make a difference. And it did--a big difference. But I wish that Visio would admit the dirty trick they used in order to put "ECO" in the VO320E's name. So, set it up in the "Retail" mode and the VO320 (I presume that eliminates the "E") will indeed deliver an excellent picture. Not up to the quality of a 46" 1080p 120 or 240 Hz set, but fine for a second or third TV, and costing much less. It is light, easy to mount on a wall, and visually attractive--surprisingly unobtrusive for its size, and a thin strip of chrome along its bottom edge adds a neat touch of class. Vizio is to be commended for providing a printed 67-page manual that is all in (reasonably clear and non-geeky) English--although it does not manufacture the VO320E in the United States as another reviewer claims (at least my set says it was made in China). The 'calibration' process (Vizio calls it "fine tuning") is simple and straight forward, at least if you don't try to use DVE, and most of the controls' default settings proved to be nearly correct when checked with DVE's test patterns--I had to change "Color" from 50 to 45 to get a fair calibration using DVE's red, green and blue filters, and reduce "Sharpness" from 4 to 1 (but I subsequently decided that a tad more sharpening gave the picture a little more pizzazz, despite what DVE concluded).I hesitate to gripe about sound quality in a TV as small and inexpensive as this, but since no other Amazon reviewer has as yet done so, here goes. Plan to hook the VO320E up to some other audio device if you possibly can (fortunately, we had an old Bose CD player on a table in the same corner of the kitchen). You can turn off the VO320E's tinny little speakers, and the "Analog Audio Out" control can be set to "Variable," allowing the TV volume and mute controls to regulate an external audio device (a convenience that my much fancier HDTV in the family room lacks). There is even an equalizer included among the audio controls--a welcome feature since the VO320E's audio amplifier distorts badly, apparently in an attempt to compensate for the shortcomings of its speakers. For its price, this is a fine 32-inch HDTV. Were it not for Vizio's Eco-prevarication, and the tinny sound, both of which are easily overcome, I would give it five stars.

5Best TV for Holiday's 2012
By Mark Douglas
Awesome TV. I purchased it on Black Friday after doing tons of research and there's no better deal. This TV is all about picture quality with none of the other features like 3D and Smart Apps that you don't need. It's really thin, has a small bezel and looks great. I would tune the picture settings after you get it. That makes a surprisingly big difference in getting the picture to look really true to life. I used settings from lcdtvbuyingguide.com and they looked great. 4Beautiful as advertised
By S. Rao
In the myriad list of televisions its always confusing as to what to buy as all of them although separated by a number in their models have a wealth of differences aka the 6003 and the ES6000. First there are three main features in the Samsung TV's one can classify a)The SMART (software piece) , b) The 3D piece and the c) Form factor and refresh rate. I know I wanted a TV which was not 3D , not SMART (too many bad reviews about this being unusable) but had the slim form factor (1.2-1.8) and a refresh rate of 120hz or higher. The ES6003 is the one which fits this review. The ES6000 is the "fatter" television with the same features as this one and the ES6100 is the SMART portion added each adds or subtracts 300 bucks from the TV price when compared at the same size. At 999 this was a good choice. Not a lot of adjustment for the picture settings , not too much of a bleed at the edges , lighter than the older TV's I have had and perfect for a normal living room. So far pretty happy with this TV. There is a feature matrix below each of the Samsung TV's on Amazon which is a good reference before one makes up their minds on which TV they want.

5A great package without the kiddie features.
By TheBronxBull
I bought the 6003 this past week from Amazon, and this was the only model that fit what I was looking for. My criteria was the following:1) No SmartTV Features: I already have an Apple TV, which is essentially the equivalent of the Samsung "Smart" features, but more refined, I feel. As such, and in addition to a slew of reviews I've read about the "Smart" technology being slow and antiquated, I felt as though choosing between a television that is cheaper by $100 and the "Smart TV" features, I would take the former. Also, being that an Apple TV is only $99, and is a much better package, this was an easy choice. Navigating through the Samsung menus is like flying a helicopter through a rainforest; they simply cannot beat the Apple software UI.2) No 3D Capability: Also, I have zero interest in 3D. I'm sure there are people out there that enjoy the features for their kids and all, but I feel as though it's a gimmick; both the 3D features in theaters, as well as the 3D TV's at home, I believe, will both be phased out and known as a "fad." In fact, I actually *prefer* to see a movie in 2D at the theaters, since I think it takes away from the film a bit (the maybe one exception being Martin Scorsese's Hugo).3) Ultra-Slim and Bezel: One of the most important features I wanted was an extremely thin bezel, and the thinnest TV I could buy. When comparing the thickness of the regular Samsung TV's vs the slim versions, it's a huge difference (3.8" in the thickest part vs 1.8") - the latter being exceptional in the cosmetic department, which, in my opinion, future-proofs the purchase a bit more. On the edge of the televisions, it's seriously about 3/4" thick, which simply looks beautiful. I love the Samsung televisions because of the great picture quality and features, but also because of their thin, light, and simple designs.4) Technical Specs: I wanted the 1080P resolution, the 120hz refresh rate, and the 46" model.Negatives: the one negative thing I have to say about this television is that it only has two HDMI ports. That being said, I only use two, since my A/V receiver accepts everything else. If you bump up to the next model with the SmartTV features, you gain one additional HDMI port - not worth the money for another $100.Conclusion: after doing my research based on the above criteria, Samsung's 6003 model was the *only* one that fit the bill - no SmartTV (don't want to pay for features I'm not going to use), no 3D (waste of money, I believe), the Ultra-Slim form factor, and all of the technical features which make the display so great. At $697, I felt this was a great price - and I really liked saving money by not having the features I deemed obsolete.

1TV Fails only 8 months after warrany expires
By Klagh
Yeah the TV worked great when it was working. 8 months after the warranty expired, it went kaput! As far as I'm concerned the Sanyo DP42849 is an inferior product of crappy quality. Evidently this problem is happening to many owners of this useless piece of garbage. One day you turn on your TV, the power light comes on, but no picture or sound. What has happened is that the power management board (PN# DPS-260LP) has failed. I tried to negotiate with customer service, yeah it's 8 months out of warranty but come on! Is it too much to ask that my TV not die in less than 2 years? Is 5 or 6 years too much to ask? This problem will cost you well in excess of $200! (price of part, tax, delivery and installation) When I called Sanyo support..you're not gonna belive this "..yes sir, I understand your frustration." .. See Beavis & Butthead "Tech Support" What I finally got from Sanyo Support essentially sums up to "Your warranty's expired, you ain't gettin' diddly from us! Just piss off and go away!" Ordering the replacement part from Sanyo parts department is just as unpleasant. I said that $170 + 10 shipping was a rip off! "Well sir, you're welcome to buy your part from someone else!", that's the response I got! That condescending old hag knows full well that I can't find that part anywhere else? I know because I wasted hours and hours on the internet trying to find one. Seems that everybody's out of stock. I'll never buy any of Sanyo's crap ever again!Update: if the power management unit fails, it's quite likely that it fried your screen/panel. At that point you're better just putting it out on the curb and buying a new TV. I got a VISIO! Over a year and a half..still chuggin' away.

1Sanyo DP42849 TV
By beckiraye
This tv seemed nice for a while. It lasted 1 and 1/2 years. It just went out one day. The green light comes on and that is it. The tv repairman said it will cost me $100 just to look at it.And if it is the power supply that is another $100. But it could be other things. After reading many reviews on this tv it seems to be a piece of crap. Thanks Sanyo. Never will I buy anything with your name on it. I will also look for companies you are affiliated with and not buy their products either. A tv set should last more than a year and half. If I could give this tv and company minus stars I would..'

1Sanyo is SCAMMING Customers BIG TIME!
By Surfer Girl 27
Bought a Sanyo 47 inch LCD TV from Walmart less than 1 year ago & it kept turning off randomly for no reason. We just dealt with it for awhile, but tonight my husband & I read TONS of reviews about other Sanyo TV's doing the same thing, & worse - turning off & staying off & not working at all! I saw this & read it to my husband who said, "At least we don't have that problem." Minutes later, we did. Our TV just turned off & won't go on anymore. NEVER buying anything Sanyo again, and I cannot believe they do not care anything at all for their brand name. Don't believe me? Just Google Sanyo TV problems, you'll see thousands of complaints, with NO response or help from Sanyo.
