5Nice picture, nice sound, but...
By Ken
My previous TV, a 25-incher, conked out two days before Thanksgiving. After three days of furious research, I ventured out to my "local" electronics store (8 miles away!) at 8 am the Friday morning after Thanksgiving. I had already decided on a Sony 27" flat-screen and didn't need PIP, so the KV27FS13 was the one. It was rather difficult to judge the quality of the picture in the store; I couldn't get more than five feet away from the set, arrayed as they were down narrow aisles. But the price was right, and I've had a good experience with my Sony flat-screen computer monitor. The punchline: The salesman asked," How many do you want? We have 19 in stock." Ooh. (...)One for every bedroom. As if.

With bungee cords, the box barely fit in the trunk of my Caprice, but I got it home and in the door, courtesy of my trusty handcart.Getting it up on the TV stand with no help proved harder. At 100 pounds and with few right angles for my hands to get a purchase on, it's a big'un. I'm glad I got the in-home repair plan, 'cause I ain't movin' that thing again till it's ready to go to that home theater in the sky.

But enough of all that. You want to know about the picture. Well, it's flat, and there is less glare, but it's a picture. The ugly little secret no one will admit is that picture quality is dependent on many things, none having to do with the flatness of one's TV screen.

This has been brought brutally home to me during the time I've had the set. On the stations with high quality signals, the picture is fantastically bright and clear. I can see the weave in fabrics, the blemishes, laughlines and stretchmarks on actors' skins, the veins on leaves and petals, the scratches and nicks in football players' helmets. Watching certain cable channels, old family videos or clapped-out video-store rentals, however, is an exercise in frustration. I can only compare the experience to trying to read fine print without my bifocals. Our local peacock-network affiliate has multiple ghosts and scratchy sound, as it has for the last three years.

Around back, it's got more plugs and outlets than my stereo receiver. From the looks of them, you could hook up enough speakers to start a second Northridge quake. The cable connection worked, and that's all I cared about.

A few minor quibbles. There's no flat surface on top to rest the cable guide and TV listings. Why bother putting volume, channel, and on-off controls along the top front edge of the cabinet? And the color of that cabinet can best be described as stained-with-a-few-years-worth-of-kitchen-grease-silver. Sony, please. Either make it bright silver or paint it black.

Once you OPEN AND READ THE MANUAL, this TV's onscreen menus are a joy to use. And I have a Sony VCR, so I can use its remote and the TV's remote almost interchangeably. Very nice.

Moms 'n' Dads who use TV as an electronic babysitter will be happy to know that through the use of this Sony's password-prompted parental controls, their progeny can be blocked from seeing anything but G-rated fare, so hopefully they will grow up be model students and upstanding citizens and not stand around smoking and spitting and making noise in front of my house. We shall see.

Watching old CinemaScope movies that have been letterboxed is a much more pleasant experience than on my old 1989 25" bubble-screen. If you do a lot of that, you might want to spring for a 32" flat-screen, but invite some strong friends over for pizza and beer the day you bring it home. It's close to 200 pounds (Yes, I asked while I was at the store.)

Sound? It's head-and-shoulders above that coming from my old TV, whose two integral "stereo" speakers were partially blocked by the housing. I've already tried hooking the TV up to my stereo system using both the back and front audio ports, and the sound is phenomenal. I got a pretty good idea of what surround sound would be like if I ever went that route. Again, the sound is best on newer shows that were in stereo to begin with. Old movies and TV shows(my favorite kind) didn't have clear-as-a-bell sound to begin with, and there's not much improvement in 1950's audio even on a 2001 flat-screen stereo set.

So there you are, folks. If you're going to buy a Wega or any other flat-screen TV, buy it. Wonderful picture, wonderful sound under ideal conditions. But don't expect it to be a cure-all for weak output from the aforementioned sources. If anything, the high-quality display and the relative power of the speakers will exacerbate the flaws in these sources. As we used to say in the bad old days of DOS and the bad new days of HTML, "Garbage in, garbage out."

5Great quality at a reasonable price
By A Customer
Before I made the decision to buy this product, I read a variety of consumer reviews, including Consumer Reports. The reviews gave this product high marks. (Consumer Reports rated this among the top TVs in its category). I was looking for a reliable flat screen TV that would provide excellent picture and sound quality at a reasonable price.

With the Sony KV27FS13 I was not disappointed. After getting some help to get it in place (it is heavy), the connections and setup instructions were a breeze. I am very pleased with the variety of connection options. The S-Video input allowed me to connect my satellite receiver. I can't believe the clear, sharp images. What a difference!

The reviews I read also said that video component input was the way to go to connect a DVD player. I used this connection to hook up my DVD player. The picture quality is superb! I was surprised at the clarity of the sound too. It is the closest thing to watching movies in a theater that you can experience without actually being in a theater.

All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase. I would highly recommend this Sony Wega TV to anyone who is looking for great quality at a reasonable price.

5Excellent flat-screen TV
By L. Hower
Having read a number of glowing reviews, I was not disappointed by my new Sony Wega - this TV is awesome. I compared a number of 27" flat screen TVs from Toshiba, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, & Sony. Of the five, I found the Sony to have the clearest and most vibrant picture. Also, only the Sony and the Samsung have the 16:9 picture modes to display widescreen films with the highest resolution. Digital cable (thru composite video input) looks significantly sharper and more brighter than my old TV and DVDs w/ component video input look stellar. I also have PS2 and games look awesome on the Wega.

5More with less
By Paul Moskowitz
My requirement for a television is quite simple: plug it in to the cable box and have it work the first time; then turn on the sports event of the day, e.g. Mets or Yankees, Jets or Giants, etc. The Samsung 46 inch LED TV does that very well. You plug it in, it works. This TV does more with less. It weighs only about 40 pounds plus another 10 pounds for the stand. Compare that with the older Samsung 950 model of the same size which weighs 70 pounds. The elegant stand allows for easy rotation. The TV is only a little over one inch thick! Power consumption has been measured by reviewers at about 105 watts. The 950 model comes in at 180 watts. The picture is great. The contrast ratio, rated at 3,000,000 to 1, exceeds that of older LCD TVs. The black areas are dark and the picture has an almost 3D quality. There are four preset picture options. I chose the "normal" setting. The next higher setting, "standard", makes infield grass look almost dayglow. I do not think that there is a need to have any further adjustment done on the picture. However, there is an automatic dimming of the overall brightness for dark scenes. For instance, when the credits of a movie run against a black background the lettering becomes dimmer. This has no effect on sports, but does effect dark movie scenes. The screen surface does reduce reflections but does not eliminate them entirely. The black frame is shiny and does also reflect some light. Rotating the screen to the best angle helps. The remote provides choices for four picture size variations. I use "16:9" for the HD format or "wide" to make the non-HD, 4:3, video fill the screen. That loses some of the 4:3 picture at the top and bottom edges, but the picture quality is still good. The sound also has four preset choices. Although, the internal speakers are not bad, I decided to use my sound system for the audio. The TV has an audio output connection, but the TV remote volume control only allows variation in the sound level for the internal speakers. The audio output stays at a constant level. I got around this by taking the audio from my cable box directly to my sound system and controlling the level with the cable remote. This works.Although Samsung provides a version of the instruction manual on a USB drive with the TV, I found it easy to download and print a pdf of the manual from the Samsung support center. Having the printed manual is helpful. See my comment for the web address of the support center. After one month, I still really like this TV. It is great for sports. An added bonus is that my electric bill has actually gone down.Note: This review was written for the 6000 model. The 7000 model differs from the 6000 model in its I/O capabilities. Recently some people have reported that the 7000 has a better picture. If you do not need the extras, go with the 6000 and save a few dollars.

5Love this TV
By Dennis Mnuskin
I won't go into as much detail as some others, but I do want to say that I've had this TV for 3 weeks and I absolutely love it. One thing I noticed on all TV's my friends have is when the scene goes dark, you can see the entire screen glow and most LCDs will only go so dark. Due to LED technology, which does not disappoint, this TV will go pitch black on dark scenes and very bright on light scenes. One thing I do want to mention is that Samsung's Auto Motion Plus (AMP) is something that takes time to get used to, if you choose to use it. The funnies thing I've read about this TV is a person who paid over $2k and then sent the TV back because they said TV made everything they watched "look cheap, like a soap opera", so they rated TV one star, shipped it back to the store and bought a different brand. As soon as I got the TV hooked up, I popped in Matrix II into the DVD player and I did notice what that person was talking about. Entire movie didn't feel quite like a movie, but more like someone was holding a video camera and was following all the car chases and everything else. It did remind me of those "cheap" TV programs, but is also looked kind of like you are actually there. I read more about it and realized that if I turn off AMP, the TV will show everything "normally" and there is absolutely no reason to send it back if AMP is not your thing. However, I read more about AMP and from what I can tell, it is the imperfections in normal movies and motion blur that we are all used to. What AMP does is figure out where all moving objects are, "unblurs" them and actually plays back the scene at 120fps instead of 24fps. Extra frames are extrapolated based on object motion in the scene. The result is that everything is extremely sharp and clear and motion blur is almost entirely gone. I've seen Matrix II about 8 times and when I watched it with AMP turned on, I noticed extra cool, little details which I've never even noticed before when watching it on a regular TV.

5Great Set
By R. Williams
This TV has produced a lot of controversy. After having spent a lot of time wading through it, passively and actively (debating it in threads), I came to the conclusion that I would get this set for a number of reasons:1. I was not convinced by the people who were claiming that there were serious issues with this TV. One reviewer claimed to have seen trails in large dark objects. I went to the store and found NO ability to see it, and it was right next to the 750 (and a lot of other sets). As to the LED being edge and thus the lighting being inconsistent, ditto. I am not saying that it's all lies and local dimming is useless. I am saying that it's not something I can see right now (and that's really all I care about).2. This set is INSANELY thin. I have a space for mine where this actually makes a big difference.3. I like to vote with my dollars. This is the lowest consuming television ever made. The CNET list of sets showed that the range was 8:1, which is pretty phenomenal if you think about it; in cars, mileage is not even that spread out. This is a REMARKABLE achievement and it's a drag to hear people whining about dumb little imperfections that 99% of people would never see while they are buying from the other end of the spectrum. Of course, the amount of energy less you are going to use is not going to make a revolution, but a tiny percentage of all TVs using this amount would make a huge difference (game theory 101).The biggest difference from my prior set (Westinghouse LCD) is this one actually has blacks. The controls, menus, remote, etc., are all fine (I use a universal remote). Having a bunch of HDMI ports is great. I plugged in the connection to the web and looked at the Yahoo Widgets. Calling them useless at this point is an understatement. Should be interesting to see what is coming from that direction. The argument that if the 750 looks just as good, save the money and get that is a compelling one. In terms of value overall, I paid ~$1500 for my 42" Westinghouse 3 years ago. I just replaced it because it had developed background noise (patterns you could see). If this set lasts 2 more years, it will have exceeded the prior value in size and savings of energy.Again, this is a remarkable achievement in an industry that had told us we'd all be using power sipping OLED by now, this is a hybrid strategy, here today.

2When it does work, its pretty good
By Cory
I bought this back in March and it was delivered within 3 days, thank you Amazon! It worked great for almost two months, the picture was stunning. Then one day I sat down to watch something and the image flickered a couple of times then went totally black. The power light just blinked steadily, no picture, no sound. Resetting the power only led me to the same results. Worked with Panasonic on-line support, they referred me to a local repair shop. My TV then spent over a month at their facility while it waited for parts, the end result was the LCD panel itself was to blame. Panasonic then shipped out a brand new TV of the same model for me to take home. I have now had the replacement TV for nearly a month and today the screen is starting to flicker... If I have one more issue I will be requesting a full refund from Panasonic.

5Great Quality TV
By Blake
I was excited for this TV to show up at my door 2 days after I ordered it (thank you amazon prime). I am very happy with my new Panasonic Viera LED HDTV. Some people have expressed having some issues with their TV's but its possible they just happened to receive a defective one (It happens and those who normally get a bad TV complain while us happy people forget to write reviews). There are no dead or stuck pixels. The picture seems to be great quality. The speakers are about as good as a TV is going to have. I am not sure why so many people expect the speakers in the LED LCD's to blow your mind. If you want superb sound buy yourself a nice 5.1 or 7.1 surround system. The Netflix works great, not too sluggish, when you have an Ethernet cable hooked up to the TV. It only plays netflix, amazon video but if your really into streaming you should probably look into a Roku or Logitech Google TV (both are around 99$). I played a few PS3 games and I was really impressed with the response time and overall quality picture during game play.Over all the sound quality, picture and appearance are all great and if your looking for a great 42" LED I would suggest this TV. I plan on following up in a few more weeks.Update Oct 25 2011So far the TV has been great with out any issues. After I bought it I did update the TV software. The Netflix is more limited then I would like you cant search ). The TV sound is fine for normal TV but if you like movies surround is a must. I bought a Panasonic blu ray player to use with this TV and I was very impressed with the over all picture quality The New remastered Lion King Looks really good ). Viera link is pretty cool since you can use the tv remote with the blu ray player. I would recommend it to anyone in the 42" led lcd tv market. It works just fine and has no issues.

5Best TV, especially for the price!
By Dbar
I did an extensive search across the whole LED television market for a good 4 months before finally deciding to purchase this TV and I have to say I am 100% happy with this TV. I have had it for a month now and love it. It has excellent clarity but also excellent sound quality, especially when compared to other LED's. Since LED's are so thin, they normally are not strong when it comes to sound performance, however, the E30's quality is great. Combine all of that with the fact that this TV is priced at under $700 at Amazon and you have the best mid-level LED TV. I was comparing it with the Sharp 830 and the Sony ex700 and this one is by far superior. I would have been willing to pay just as much for this TV, as I would have for those two, around $100. But again buying this at $660 allowed me to get a nice TV stand and couches for around the same price. It was by far my best purchase this year.

4Not perfect, but overall very good.
By E.L.
So, I have the 65lw6500 I got from here. Delivered no problem in one week. It replaced an LG 55LH90.Here are my thoughts after a few days with it in no particular order. By the way, a little background on me....used to be REALLY into home theater, then I got married, so now I just enjoy it. I'm happy with the 80% solution. I have excellent vision and don't get motion sick or anything else like that. I do not like active shutter at all. It just irritates me, and the dimming and flickering I see when I move my head is a total deal breaker. YMMVAnyway:-it's freaking heavy. Also, it just seems huge compared to my 55". FYI, I sit about 10 feet.-2d is very good. Surprisingly even good on SD content from Dish Network and older stuff on Netflix. Completely watchable.- 3d is fantastic. Tangled is WOW! Of course, good source material makes a world of difference. Green Hornet added nothing in 3d, whereas Tangled was actually a more enjoyable movie in 3d. It was like a different film. I haven't seen any 3d issues.-there is some flash lighting from the corners. I can tell a difference in blacks from my LH90 that had full local dimming backlight. (this does NOT have local dimming, unlike the 55 and 47 model 6500 listed in the table above. It's slightly annoying to me, but my wife doesn't even notice...also, I didn't point it out to her. Some things you just can't unsee. It improved as I adjusted the settings. The picture wizard is quite good.-the edge lighting is more viewable as you move to the opposite side. For example, if I sit left of center, the right side of the screen becomes "less black" because of that side's edge light. Vice versa- the magic remote is pretty nice, but not totally necessary..I wouldn't spend extra if it wasn't already included. There's not really any better way to explain it than comparing it to a Wii Remote. it also comes with another remote that has more buttons. Neither is what I would call a universal remote.-the built in apps are cool. If you have a receiver with ARC, it's great to just click on Netflix, vudu, whatever and have the receiver switch over. The apps also work well. There are maybe 20apps or so? Netflix, Hulu, Amazon on demand (yes, watch the free stuff if you have Prime shipping), Pandora, Facebook, and some other ones that I don't recall.-PS3 and Xbox 360 with kinect work just fine through my Onkyo r360 receiver. PS3 played Tangled blu ray with zero issues. I even put Ratchet and Clank in 3d conversion mode and it was pretty cool.-speaking of, the 2d to 3d conversion is fun. It doesn't always work, but I'd say it's probably 85% right. I played Spongebob from Netflix and it got it mostly right, but there were times where his body, pants and legs were in the foreground, but his belt would be put in the background. Stuff like that. Generally, though, really cool.In all, I like it. If you are the kind of person who NEEDS the blackest blacks, don't get it. But, passive 3d, large screen and 3d conversion sold me vs some other sets.

5Amazing TV Set
By ringnjc
Install:Just received the TV yesterday via freight shipping. Package was in great shape and the delivery men wanted me to open the box and test the TV before they left. This set is absolutely stunning even when it is off! The great news is that it's even more amazing on. It is fairly thin at less than 1" and is a claimed 93lbs without the stand. It seemed alot heavier, but it may just be the sheer size of the TV that makes the weight awkward to handle. I mounted it with a super slim Sanus mount with the help of another person, of course, I'm no hulk! I did not have an inset electrical outlet, so I had to buy one of those flat three prong extension cords in order to be able to get the TV close enough to the wall to snap in the bottom. Since I mounted it above my fireplace mantle I got a tilting mount so that I could tilt the set downward since it sits about 5.5' above the ground.Features:I was most excited about the Cinema 3D so I will start there:-uses the same cheap glasses as in the theaters, which is great.-they are light weight and no worries if a kid breaks them, plus we have a collection of smaller glasses the kids get when going to see a 3D flick.-The 3D quality is bright, very dimensional, and does not give me a migraine like the active shutter sets do. There is no flickering and dimming.-True 3D content from the HD satellite Receiver or blu-ray is just gorgeous. better than the theaters as the screen is brighter.-2D to 3D actually works and adds dimension to almost any show you're watching. It's fun to play with.-My overall opinion is that Cinema 3D is the new standard until we can all go sans glasses some day2D HD quality:I am no videophile, but the pure 2D HD quality is fantastic, and amazing considering this set is 65".Colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, overall i am very pleased.Apps and Magic remote:-the Magic remote is very much like a Wii remote and really makes using the apps, web browser and other features a breeze. you can also download the LG TV remote for your ios device and control the TV that way, worked really well.-There are the standard set of apps including netflix as well as other freebies and ones you can buy. There is 256mb of built in storage, but with a limited amount of apps, and most coming in under 5mb, storage space won't be an issue, and you may be able to harness an extra USB stick, but I am not 100% sure.Wireless adaptor:I could not get the included wireless adapter to work with my d-Link wireless router, so I had to pull out my old trusty Linksys G router and the LG adapter recognized it right away. I tried many security options, and wireless speeds to no avail on the d-link, which works with every other device in my house, PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Vizio TV, etc...Conclusion:For around $3000 I don't think you'll find a more desirable and feature rich set out there.

4Nice, but not perfect
By Mike
This is a nice TV but it has some flaws. Unfortunately all 3D televisions sold at this time have flaws so you have to pick your battles. I was torn between the 65 inch Panasonic Plasma or this set as both are about the same price. A friend bought a Panasonic GT30 series and has constant issues with burn in (real burn-in, not just IR) as the newest plasmas seem to have worse issues with that than the older 2009-2010 models. Not sure why the newer (3D) plasmas have issues with IR and burn-in like early plasmas, but I'm a gamer and I didn't want to have to worry about burn-in. I already knew that the picture wouldn't be quite as uniform and not to expect jet blacks so I wasn't surprised when I saw some light bleed at the edges of this set on a totally black scene or some very faint clouding on perfectly uniform scenes like a white background in a commercial. Fortunately the mura and cloudiness are quite faint and are confined to the edges so they are not nearly as bad as the Sharp Aquos 65D64U 65 inch LCD it replaced. Here's a rundown of the pros and cons that I've found in just a few days of ownership.Pros(1) Bright, sharp, very detailed picture.(2) No one in the family had issues with seeing lines in the passive 3D picture.(3) 3D picture is fantastic. No headaches from wearing heavy active glasses.(4) Vertical offset not really an issue at typical viewing distances, even with wall mounting.(5) Good smart TV apps, but I don't use those much.(6) Off angle (side) viewing is excellent: very little contrast/color shift.(7) Massive array of settings/features: could be a "con" too as you can get lost in them!(8) Nice sturdy base has left/right swivel.(9) Tru Motion option is incredible: can smooth out any slow-frame-rate source.Cons(1) ~150ms lag w/default settings, see [...](2) Can't use optical audio out on TV to sync sound because it only passes stereo sound.(3) Blacks are not plasma black obviously, but not bad for an LCD.(4) Some mura and light bleeding but improved by massaging screen stress points w/cloth.(5) Incredibly annoying idiot warning w/3D content: can't be disabled.(6) Glossy screen shows every reflection: reflections can ruin the 3D effect.Summary: overall I'm quite happy with this set. The passive 3D is better than I expected and comparable to my friend's Panasonic GT30 plasma in quality. Half-res 3D due to the passive technology doesn't seem to be a factor beyond about 8 feet. And no one should buy an LCD expecting perfectly uniform picture and jet blacks like a plasma. So from what I was expecting, I'm quite impressed. This set lost one star in my review for two primary reasons: the set can't pass proper DD 5.1 sound from HDMI input to optical out, and because of the idiotic warning that pops up every time you go from 2D to 3D mode. LG needs to add a way to acknowledge that warning once and then not display it in the future.Mike

4Good Quality for the money
By granthas
The TV has a very good picture, but the sound is lacking. Audio appears to sound like it is coming out of a tube. I had to buy an sound bar to get decent quality. Other than that, we are very pleased with it.

5Pleasantly surprised!
By PAULACLF
I went to Walmart to see this product in person. I was going to buy it from Walmart but saw that Amazon offered it at a lower price and with free delivery. I was a little worried buying such a big ticket item online and was not sure if it would be delivered to my house in one piece. I was plesantly surprised to have no problems with this item. It is working wonderfully and couldn't be happier with the quality and the price!!

5Just as promised
By Crazy4Sting
We purchased this after returning another brand with a faulty screen/picture. Amazon picked it up within 24 hours with no hassles to us (except repacking it). We spent a few extra $$ over our budgeted amount for a TV but it was well worth it. The picture is fantastic and clear from over 15' away. It was easy to set up in our home and connect to our satellite, DVD, and Wii. However, we've not used the Wii yet with this set. I would definitely purchase again/recommend to a friend.

5Very Happy With This TV Purchase
By G. A. P.
My family is VERY happy with this purchase. My original choice was to go with the 65 inch Samsung UN65C8000 and later the UN65D8000. While Samsung makes great TV's, I really did not care to pay extra for 3-D which I will never use. The more I read about the Samsungs, the more concerns I had about spending $5000 for a TV whose technology could be outdated in a few short years. I was really glad to find this Sharp TV which seems to have hit the sweet spot for me between size, features, quality and price. With the Sharp I also got 5 extra inches of screen for around $2000 less than the Samsung. But the proof is in the picture quality and this TV has an excellent picture. Unlike the edge lighting used on the Samsung, the Sharp has full arrray LED back lighting. This makes the Sharp not as thin as the Samsung, but gives it a more uniform picture. HD is simply stunning. Last but not least, my living room is almost all windows so one of the biggest selling points for me was the semi-gloss screen on the Sharp TV. This makes for less of the distracting reflections compared to a glossy screen TV like the Samsung. In sum, I think Sharp has a real winner here. If you have the space and enough seating distance to the TV, I think you will be very satified.

5I'm in Love!
By ReviewByMe
I just got this "beast" set up and all I want to do it wrap my arms around it and hug it. My boyfriend helped me with it and when we were done, I said "I love you." The sad thing is, I was talking to the TV, not him.I blanched when I first saw the price tag but have been wanting a 70" LCD for a while so went ahead and purchased it even though there were no other reviews at the time.I am so happy I did.I think I spent a month or two trying to decide what TV to get. I visited plenty of stores and did comparison shopping. I kept weighing the features I wanted and those I could live without. In the end I had it down to this 70" and another brand's 65" 3D TV. I decided I would enjoy a larger screen more than I would a 3D screen so that was the deciding factor for me. I'm not really into the whole 3D thing anyway...I have long eyelashes so wearing glasses for a long period of time drives me nuts.I really cant think of a single negative thing to say. I was a little nervous about what I would wind up with but this TV has met every one of my expectations. It was a breeze to set up - just make sure you have an extra person on hand to help with the stand. It is large, awkward and slightly heavy to move. (We cursed quite a bit and in the end, had to cart it into the bedroom to lay it down on the mattress to put the stand on.)I bought a sound system to go with it because I always hear that the new, larger TV's don't have the best speakers but the sound on this TV is just as good as what was on my last television set. Though, if you're going to spend so much on a TV, I'd go ahead and shell out a few extra bucks to get a sound system that equals the picture.I guess the only tiny thing I could say that's a negative isn't really to do with the TV but the current technology. It has built-in wifi which lets you stream from the various online movie sites. Since the signal is being fed to it wirelessly, its not nearly as sharp as the picture you get from your HDMI cable connected sources. I'll probably stick to my movies and cable when watching TV on it.I haven't set up my Xbox to it yet and not sure if I will (its in the media room,) so cant comment on how it would do with games, but as I mainly bought it for TV/movies it suits its purpose perfectly.I honestly don't see how they can ever improve on this.EDITED to ADD:So I have had this a few weeks now and Im still super into it. At first I thought there was no light sensor, but I was wrong and there are actually two up front that I had just been blocked with the spare cable clicker. I really like this feature as on the few days Ive been around during the day, I didnt need to close blinds to watch TV or mess with the settings on my own.I moved the TV to a different room a week or so after the original set up and really had to play around with the picture settings to get them right. The pre-set ones are ok, but some of the levels seemed off to me....Bright colors were looking great but skin tones just seemed washed out - like everyone on my TV was a in need of some color or trip to the beach. Anyway, I have all the settings where I think they should be.I have found one, not so great thing...it doesnt really effect me as I have ATT Uverse and pretty much only watch the HD channels....but I have noticed that on the regular channels, it doesnt do so well. Like, on those channels, everything has the picture quality of an old episode of Walker Texas Ranger. Its almost like those channels cant handle being blown up to this size. There could be a setting to fix this but I havent found it yet. But anyway, the HD channels all look amazing.

5GREAT 70" Sharp,, better than my 65" Panasonic plasma
By Davyo
Got this 70" Sharp to replace my 65" S2 Panasonic plasma that I sold,,, I wanted something bigger than 65 inches and at first was worried that I might take a hit in picture quality going to the 70" Sharp, such was not the case, the picture quality is even better than my much loved Panasonic 65 incher.Anyhow,,,, very very very happy with my new Sharp. On a side note, I also purchased and returned the 65" Vizio passive 3D panel,,, the passive 3D was great,, but the 2D picture quality of the 65" Vizio was not as good as my Panny plasma or my Sharp 70 incher.CheersDavyo

5This is a beautiful TV
By Julien Pierre
I purchased this TV from Paul's TV through Amazon earlier this month. This is a beautiful TV. It is also incredibly thin, which is great for the wall mounted installation.I purchased a pair of Sharp 3D glasses on ebay.I have the TV hooked up to a HTPC with a GT430 video card . I watched "Resident evil afterlife" 3D Blu-ray. It was breathtaking.I did not test the OTA HDTV tuner as I don't have an antenna hookup in the room where the TV is at the moment.I have not tried the DLNA feature either.Pros :The picture is very bright and just amazing. Much better than other manufacturers like Sony and Vizio. This is a really nice size for a large roomWhen watching 1080p/60Hz sources, the picture is incredibly smooth. The 240 Hz refresh rate is absolutely amazing. I may have to watch this TV more even though the screen is only 1/4" of the size of my projection screen. The wifi really works well. I have it working with wireless N on the 5 GHz band connected to a Cisco E3000 router about 50ft away. I can stream movies/previews from Vudu at the maximum quality, over 9 Mbit/s sustained. This may seem little compared to the 300 Mbit/s theoretical of wireless N, but it is actually impressive that there are no dropouts. The price was excellent. It was the same as the 832 model at Costco which is not 3D. I see that it has now gone up by over $500 since I purchased it.It has a lot of inputs - 4 HDMI, 1 component, 1 VGACons :3D picture is dimmer than 2D. And you can't watch the picture lying down with the 3D glasses, the polarization dims the picture too much. The built-in sound is weak. But that's expected on all TVs. You just have to pair the TV with a separate audio system.I couldn't get the HDMI Audio Return Channel feature to work with the Onkyo HT-S5300 HTIB. It could be due to the receiver and not the TV, though the TV manual says this feature only works with other Sharp Aquoslink equipment.

5Great picture quality at a great price per inch.
By AZ Mutley
I've had this unit a week now and I'm very impressed with it. The picture quality is amazing.I use it with an Oppo 93 3D Bluray player going through an Onkyo 970. Everything is HDMI 1.4compliant and it all works very nicely together. The Sharp sees the Onkyo, but not the Opposo far. Not really an issue. Likewise the limited web apps are not somethig that bother me.3D playback was out of this world watching Avatar. I had seen 3D demos in stores and thought it wasa bit contrived and not really immersive. I'd see some cartoon character pop out of the screen, or abig drop of water go by rafting the grand canyon.. but Avatar was full on, very real.. as far as itis "real" of course.Be prepared to mess about for a while dialing in the picture. Skin looked overly red out of the box.I also had to tone down yellow and magenta setting and reduce color saturation a few clicks in orderto make things right (for me). It's been pointed out to me from my review of a previous Samsung 3D TV that the yellow pixel is a gimmick, and yes, it is,as the industry spec color to be divided into Red Green Blue..but I think Sharp actually did something clever. Since the numberof pixels is limited to 1920 by 1080, the bigger a screen gets the bigger the pixels, or the wider the gap between them.. so byadding the 4th yellow pixel Sharp are filling the "holes" and adding resolution, as it were. It might boost total output too..which is why I needed to dial it all down out of the box. Food for thought.Pros: 60" 3D LCD for 2300$, wow! Great picture. Huge number of adjustments. Usable on board speakers for once.Awesome 3D with Avatar. Slim , great for wall mount (when I get around to it) Nice "hidden" buttons on the bottom right allow use even when remote is lost. Power saving modes.(slight) Cons: ugly base, remote is a bit direction sensitive, only a couple of apps (which I don't use) huge number of adjustments :) There is a slight amount of light leak in the corners, but it's dark rather than bright and I notice it only on fully "on" shots, such as a white title page. I've seen much worse than this so it's a negligible con.

4Very Happy
By Buzznut3000
Amazing is the only word to describe this TV. The bezel is small and the stand is rock solid, it looks great even when off. When you turn it on your jaw drops at the bright, colorful, razor sharp picture. This TV has just about every feature you can imagine. How cool is it to effortlessly switch from TV to Netflix to stored files. I have not tried the 3D yet so hopefully that will not disappoint. Only a few minor issues keep this from being 5 stars.Pros:-Dual band wireless N-2 USB data ports, this TV plays avi, mkv flawlewssly with a nice user interface. Great to have one large drive connected and still have a port to plug in my portable drive.-You can turn off the 'TV ON' light in the front. May not seem like a big deal but with this off there are no lights or indicators to distract you.-Nice Netflix UI, better than the xbox IMO-Ridiculous number of connections, all my old (and new) stuff connects with no problem.Cons:-The remote is not the best, it works but sometimes you have to point it directly at the TV. Also it doesn't light up. I suppose there has to be some corners cut to get a 60" set at this low price.-I could only get 1 bar on the wireless from my brand new Netgear Dual band router 25 ft away. I had set up a dedicated 5GHz network for this TV but I eventually decided to have the cable company come out and throw a drop in behind the TV. Maybe a 2.4GHz connection would work better.-Netflix software is a little buggy. It kept locking up when using the wireless. Wired connection solved it for me. Sharp is working on it and has already issued 2 updates. Not a deal breaker but something to keep in mind.-When viewing files on a USB drive you have to bring up an onscreen menu to stop, pause, etc. Not a big deal but the remote already has these buttons (which work for Netflix), why not use these?Overall this is a great TV. With all these built in features it is not surprising that there are a few minor bugs to work out. Don't let those stop you from getting one of these great sets.
